Boot Issues

Hi Guys,

I've been searching through the forums for the last week or so trying to find someone who's had the same problem as me, but can only find the reverse!

I've had my Leon (1.6 SX) for about 3 months now. After a while I realised that the boot light didn't come on. I'd already fixed the rear wiper, so I thought I might have to replace the light, but the bulb is fine and running a meter across the connectors, it seems fine.

Fast forward a week or two and I had the car running when someone opened the boot to get something out. I'm pretty sure I should have a dashboard light telling me the boot is open, but none came on. I also find that if I unlock the car via remote, and ONLY open the boot, the car locks and re-arms after about 30 seconds, whereas if I open a door, it seems to act like I think it should.

All this points (to me) to the fact that my car doesn't know that the boot is open.

I (finally) managed - after much "fun" - to get the black plastic off the boot lid to reveal all the components - latch included. There doesn't seem to be an aweful lot there. Does anyone know what I should be looking for? The latch on the lid seems to function, but does have a wire going to it (and I'm not sure what that does or where it leads) - any ideas?

Cheers guys!!

The microswitch in the boot latch has failed. Seat documentation tells you to replace the whole latch. Try to get one from a breakers, but take a meter with you to be sure it works.

I expect that with sufficient determination it would be possible to disassemble the latch and replace the microswitch, but it isn't going to be easy.

Hi,

Finally got the boot latch off (the bit on the boot that lifts up - attached by spline screws?) and checked it with a meter and it seems to be fine (from what i can tell). I suppose now I need to chase wires? Anyone got a wiring diagram so i know where this goes and attaches at the other end?

Thanks!
