Found these on ebay,,, they might not be super brand ones but after all a gauge is a gauge,,, don't think it's subject to much mechanical stress,,,

What I like of it is the fact that when on red it looks quite like the stock dials of the ibiza. Plus it's very economical.

GTI T, did you turboed your car?

carlo, boost gauges are certainly not all the same, go out and buy a cheap gauge and listen to it, it rattles, ticks and shakes at idle, buy a decent autometer which is dampered and tell me they are the same. been there done that, got the decent gauge tshirt!

O.k. then, thanx for the explanation,,, so I guess I should stay well away from the one I found on ebay,,, what you think?

GTI T, glad to know it was for your dad's cupra,,, I thought this was the same story as the guy with a lupo gti that had an allard intercooler in his sig between his mods,,, lol

Thanks for all the info guys. The boost gauge & pod are now in,thanks to my son GTi T.Ended up using the original bulb painted red(courtesy of wifes nail varnish-splashed a bit on my nails & it looks really good!),matches the original dials when lit up.
mk4polo.I can see that GTi T is waiting for me to donate my engine to his car.

Sorry to take so long replying. The 501 superbrights seem to be only available in blade type.Mine is a bayonet.Did you change the holder to accomodate blade type or did your gauge come with blade type as standard?I note that from another thread you are in aircraft maintenance, who do you work for?Small world , as I am a LAE working for MyTravel airways.

moonman the autometer gauges are backlit, you get the bulb and a red and a green coloured skleeve, failing that superbrightleds.com sell replacement leds for lesss than a fiver delivered, thats the route i took.

are they. by the looks of the pictures they aint. by backlit i mean the needle and the numbers light up.

also is there any reason why i should not get the +30 boost gauge instead of the +20. it is totally standard now but in the future i want to chip it etc.

501s are blade type bulbs, my boost gauge had a 501 fitted, so it was a direct replacement.. I guess yours isnt a 501 one, sorry. Just figure out what sort of bulb it is and get the equivelent from ultraleds. they sell all sorts on there!!

I used to work for a engine & CSD overhaul company, i was on engines but it closed and i got made redundant! I then worked for weston aerospace, manufacturing Therocouples for GE's new "giant" but it was seriously boring. "Currently seeking employment in the aircraft industy" i think is the best way to describe my current situation!

30psi is what i have, standard ecu prog at the moment but was rechipped a while back, to get a decent reading the 30 is better so you can see spikes if they occur higher than 20 psi.
backlit means ts flood filled with light, the numbers are black so are readable at night.
