got a buzz from the boost gauge I have recently fitted and have been told I need some sort of restricter in the line since such a big volume of air is hitting the mechanisum inside so quick.

http://www.newsouthperformance.com/fitting.htm

found this which is included in the boost gauge pack that awesome GTI supply but can't find a UK site that sells just the inline restrictor...tried emailing awesome but no reply.

anyone help me out as to what else could be used etc or point me in the direction of somewhere to get a restrictor???

i just recently bought a cheap boost guage off ebay and the t-piece that came with it had a little brass looking restrictor built in, didn't have a clue what it was until now tho! can't help you as to where to get a seperate restrictor from tho.

yea, mine is a swoosh gauge, is all very well made and this buzz seems to be a problem with the 1.8T and scooby engines. not sure what else i can use, might have to actually ring Awesome GTI as on that site they are the only UK dealer shown for the restricter, want it inline as fitting that t-piece again is notsomething i want to do in a hurry! fingers still hurt

My auto gauge buzzs due to poor quality. I bought an Auto Meter and couldn’t believe how better made it actually is as i didn’t think the old one was too bad! No offence Swoosh gauges are along the same lines as the Auto Gauge so best bet is to spend a little more and get a better gauge

Where did you take a feed from?

There are two places I believe you can take it from. I tried both. One way buzzed the other didn't!

If you stand in front of your car there is a capped t piece you can feed off on the left hand side, this one buzzed for me, I had to feed it from the other point closer to the engine, (right hand side)

Very odd.... no use without Pics, I'll see if I can grab one later.

who told u that u need some sort of restricter........blaming the engine cos the gauge makes a buzzing sound...LOL

not gonna be any help why bother posting?

t-piece is off the fpr as per instructions, we clamped the hose going to the gauge - thus RESTRICTING it and that stopped the buzzing.

thanks those who posted something useful so far

thought i did help LOL sorry there chap
buzzing is very likely to be caused by your gauge...this is wot i was trying to say..but sometimes it could be from irratic flow...found mine best set up off the brake servo hose to the left of the intake manifold

sorry if thats not wot u wanted to here....but blaming the engine is utter rubbish!
