Bonnet Release! HELP!

i went to open me bonnet the other day and when i pulled the handle nothing happened! the bonnet didnt pop and the catch didnt even move! it been playing up for a while but now its proper donald ducked!

i need to know if it is possible to tighten the wire coz i have heard stories that replacing the wire can cost over £100! which i aint really up for paying!

if any1 can help me at all that would be great!

might be the handle thats faulty...only a few screws to take it off
see if the end of the cable is still connected to the handle?

i have already taken that apart mate and the wire is fine that end! im hoping that you can tighten it up at the catch end under the bonnet!

had this on my leon.

its most likely due to lack of lubrication.

try spraying wd40 through the grill and a bit of wiggling of bonnet and try again bit later.

then if yo do open it lubricate it well with some thick oil

have u removed the centre badge/grill? u can see the cable behind it and test it there too

I gave the handle a couple of whack with a screw driver, and opened it and let it slam shut a few times (the handle / catch in the engine bay) and sprayed it with wd40 and it moved alot more freely.

the cable comes in 2 pieces.. i had this problem a few months back. you can open teh bonnet without the handle working, but not going to explain it on the forum.

the cable splits from above the washer bottle lid, so i would guess that your cable is also stretched.. its only about 9quid i think for a new one.. however i waited 6 weeks for the part to come in of back order.
