So having abit of an issue

Recently bought a 2013 seat ibiza toca 1.4 on a private sale

Car drives absolutely spot on apart from one issue. The front wipers do not work. Which we found out 2 days later and mysteriously the seller has disappeared of the face of the earth.

After checking wiper motor, fuses, relay stalks and being plugged into vagcom everything in the circuit is OK.

Worked out it's to do with the bonnet catch, are these plug and play or do the part numbers need to match or coded to the car

Car is not registering the bonnet being open on the display and you can lock the car keeping the bonnet open.

Seriously?

It's a guess, but I'd imagine it's no more complex than a Normally-Open or Normally-Closed switch, in which case it'll be plug and play if you replace like for like.

Is it possible that a fuse has gone for the bonnet switch? Do you know the location number

Can you not see/find/reach the inline connection for that switch, separate the plug/socket and then with the switch disconnected, do the wipers work, or, maybe if you push something like a paper clip into/across the 2 terminals of the "car side" of that cable, do the wipers now work, doing that would certainly check the wiring up to that point.

Yea tried it with the switch disconnected and tried it with a new catch and switch, auto electrician couldn't find a problem either.

Someone did mention to me that just because the bcm shows that it is working doesn't mean that it's working. I'm at a loss now and so confused just about ready to give up

It would be useful for you to know what the 2 wires that get connected to that bonnet switch are voltagewise on a same version of SEAT to your one - and having a working system, as your car either has a BCM problem or wrong coding, or that car has a wiring problem, as in cut wire(s) or bared wire(s).
