Hi,

I've read a lot of VERY GOOD TOPICS talking about bleeding brakes
I've just not seen any when replacing many parts and the system is finally dry.

First I have a Golf 4 1.8t with ABS MK60
I have VCDS and a motive power bleeder
20L of DOT4
Brand New MC
Used ABS ( get this one because mine doesn't push fluid to the rear brakes I don't know why )

Once ABS and MC replaced, I supposed that :

1) fill the entire system with the power bleeder at 1bar max (if MC used I think)
2) bleed all 4 corners in this order : RF LF RR LR (reverse order for a MK60)

3) NOW should I at this time, bleed the MC nor clutch ?
If yes, please tell me the order
(When the MC is attached, what is the front and rear bleed nipple ? And which one first should be opened ?)

4) Then to bleed the ABS, some guys first do with VCDS the ABS procedure, then the output test for each corner, then a normal bleed and finally again the outpest test
Is it right ?
(Normal bleed should be MC or CS first then the 4 corners ?)

5) After this should i again bleed all 4 corners and MC and clutch ?
If yes, please tell me the order

Finally if you have any topic that indicates how to adapt the new ABS (already used not a brand new), it would be awesome

Thanks

This was all i could find on elsawin, copy and pasted it for you.

Brake system; bleeding, vehicles with ABS Mark 60
Brake system: bleeding with the SAT 1175 filling/bleeding unit
Special tools, workshop systems, testers, measuring instruments and auxiliary items required

◆ SAT 1175 filling and bleeding equipment.
‒ Connect the SAT 1175 filling and bleeding equipment.
‒ Open the bleeding bolts according to the recommended sequence.
Bleeding sequence

1 - Front left brake calliper
2 - Front right brake calliper
3 - Rear left brake calliper
4 - Rear right brake calliper
‒ With the hose connected, leave the bleeding screws open until the brake fluid comes out without air bubbles.
Note:

A test drive must be done after completing the bleeding. During this test drive, at least one ABS activation must take place.

Replace brake fluid

=> Maintenance

Previously bleeding the brake system, if one of the brake fluid circulation deposit chambers is completely empty (e.g. due to leaks in the brake system)

Bleeding sequence

1 - Bleeding the front left and right brake callipers simultaneously
2 - Bleeding the rear left and right brake callipers simultaneously
‒ With the bleeding bottle hose, leave the bleeding screws open until brake fluid comes out without air bubbles.

Brake system; bleeding, vehicles with ABS Mark 60
Brake system; bleeding, vehicles with ABS Mark 60
Note:

To bleed brake system use filling and bleeding tool SAT 1175.

Characteristics of vehicles with ABS/EDS, ABS/EDS/ASR and ABS/EDS/ASR/ESP

In the case that one of the brake fluid circulation deposit chambers is completely empty (e.g. a leak in the brake system), first bleed the brake system

Prior bleeding => page 47-38

Next, using the "Basic setting" function and the V.A.G 1551 fault reader, bleed the hydraulic unit once again

Basic setting

‒ Begin basic adjustment:
=> Running gear, self-diagnosis of the ABS; Repair group 01

‒ Next, bleed the brake system => page 47-37
Unique characteristic in vehicles with ABS/EDS/ASR/ESP

After bleeding the brake system the brake pressure sender -G201- and brake pressure sender -G214- must be adjusted:

=> Repair group 01; Running gear, self-diagnosis of the ABS

Note:

After having bled the brake system, a test run must be carried out. During this test drive, at least one ABS activation must take place.

Warning!
When adding brake fluid with the filling and bleeding equipment SAT 1175, take care that the filling pressure does not exceed 1 bar.
Thus, in the filling/bleeding equipment SAT 1175, reduce the filling pressure to 1 bar.

=> Instruction Manual SAT 1175

Note:

If the pressure is greater than 1 bar, there will be no guarantee that the system has been properly bled.

◆ Only use new brake fluid Ref. No. B 000 700 A. (indicate, at the position of the full stop, the capacity of the container).
◆ Brake fluid is toxic. Further, due to its corrosive characteristics on paintwork, it should not come into contact with any paintwork.
◆ Brake liquid is hygroscopic; this means that it absorbs humidity from the air and, for this reason, it should always be kept in sealed hermetic containers.
◆ Clean any spilled brake fluid with large amounts of water.

Removal

‒ If the vehicle is equipped with a coded radio, note the code or, if necessary, find it out.
‒ Disconnect the battery.

‒ → Release clamp -4-, remove inlet hose -5- and connector -1- from the air mass meter.
‒ If necessary, release the tube that goes from the secondary air pump from the air filter casing.
‒ Release bolts -2- and -3- and completely remove the air filter casing.
‒ If necessary, remove the relay plate located on top of the brake servo.
‒ Place a sufficiently large cloth which does not fray on the plenum chamber, engine and gearbox area.
‒ Remove as much brake fluid as possible from the brake fluid deposit, using an extraction bottle.
‒ Using compression tool U-30042, clamp the hose that transmits force to the clutch cylinder in its final phase.
‒ Remove this hose.
‒ Disengage the connector from the transmitter that indicates the float level warning.
Vehicles with automatic gearbox and/or vehicles with ABS/EDS/ASR/ESP

‒ → Disengage the connectors -arrows- from the brake pressure transmitters -a- and -b-.
Continues for all vehicles

‒ Remove the brake pipes from the master cylinder and seal the tubes with the caps "Ref. No. 1 H0 698 311 A".
‒ Unscrew the nuts from the master cylinder.
‒ If present, remove the heat protection and the support plate.
‒ Carefully remove the master cylinder from the brake servo.
Installation

Install in reverse order.

The following points must be borne in mind for installation:

‒ Make sure that the pressure rod is properly placed in the master cylinder on fitting this to the brake servo.
‒ Bleeding the Mark 20 IE brake system => page 47-29.
‒ Bleeding the Mark 60 IE brake system => page 47-34.
‒ Bleeding the clutch.
=> 5-speed manual gearbox 02J; Repair group 30; Clutch control: repairing; Clutch system: bleed

=> 02K 5-speed manual gearbox; Repair group 30; Clutch control: repairing; Clutch system: bleed

=> 02M 6-speed manual gearbox, 4x4/m. gearbox; Repair group 30; Clutch control: repairing; Clutch system: bleed

‒ Begin basic setting.
‒ In vehicles with ABS/EDS/ASR/ESP, in addition to carrying out the basic setting, brake pressure transmitter 1 -G201- and brake pressure transmitter 2 -G214- must be adjusted to zero.
