Hi folks just a wee write as to the probs with the remote key for my Leon 55reg.
At 11 months old my key started to die, the strength to open and lock my car was getting weaker until it failed and the LED stopped coming on:cry:
I changed the battery after reading a couple of threads on here but within a couple of weeks it went again [:@]
I phoned my local dealer and managed to get my car in before she was a year old, they said it would take about 2 hours to fix on the diagnostic machine - bullsh*t I thought - but 1 hours later it was fixed :D
Over the next couple of months I noticed that I had to get closer and closer to the car to open and lock her, here I go again I thought
Anyway, the other day nothing happened with the remote so had to resort to using the key, but noticed no heard something loose within the key body. I opened it up and found one of the microchips rattling about - SH*T. After a couple of attemps to hold this in place, I used a tiny spot of superglue to stick it in the correct position. Wow it actually worked and not only that it was back to original strength :D .
So if you have problems with your remote key and it's not the battery, just bear in mind that the microchip nearest the keyblade might be coming loose.
Hope this helps anyone with the same probs as I had, cheers

The microchip near the key is for the immobiliser and has nothing to do with the central locking :)

As said above the microchip and not the transponder  For those of you that are not sure the transponder is a small glass tube about 5mm long sited inside the blade section of your remote keyfob. The microchips are inside the button section of your remote.
I might take a couple of pics if required.

The transponder is a micochip and is right next to keyblade. Forgive me then but I've seen other posts on loose transponders especially ones bought off ebay:(. At least you sorted it.

I had the same thing, I changed the battery 4 times in a month, and the car was only 3 months old!. I figured out that what was happening was that the LED was staying on sometimes and this was draining the battery.

I got the key replaced, and the replacement had bright white logos on it, so I reckon when I bought a brand new car they gave me an old key as the orginal one was all faded.
