Bike Carrier

Any recommendations for a bike carrier for the 1.2?
The top and side hanging clips of the generic standard designs seem not to fit on to the hatch due to the lack of seams or depend on the strength of the highline spoiler.

Thanks

John

How about getting some roof bars and a roof-mounted carrier ?

I got some Thule roof bars for mine very recently, search through the Mk4 posts and you'll find mine listing all the part numbers, prices etc. Excellent quality stuff.

I went towbar and bike carrier route.

Bar fitted with single electrics was £150.

I got a Tradekar carrier. Meant to be £175 but I found a returned one on the Roofbox website which I got for £100. Website said it might have some scratches and bashed packing. Not fussed about the box and the carrier was still shrink wrapped so quids in.

Whole thing seems to be bomb proof - very happy with it all.

I bought one of those and took it back again 30 minutes later when I discovered that there wasn't anywhere safe to attach it to underneath the car.

Chris - did the towbar need the bumper cutting ? Any pics ? Where did you get it done ?

Have been mulling over the idea of a towbar & trailer

Towbar was supplied & fitted by Indespension.

With single electrics, it cost me £150. List was £170 but they knocked £20 off as I ordered the bike carrier from them at the same time. They gave me the wrong carrier, so I took that back for a swap but then found they were closing the Stoke depot that week, so got a refund instead and kept my discounted price :D

There is a small cut in the bottom of the rear bumper / valance. I'll take my camera to work tomorrow and hopefully get a couple of pictures for you.

Thanks, pics would be handy. Not too bothered if the valance has to be cut as that is cheap/simple to replace, not too keen on cutting the bumper itself if it can be avoided.

Not sure if I'll go for towbar/trailer yet, pics might help me decide....:)

Just took some pictures. Probably won't get in front of my PC tonight, so I'll hopefully upload them tomorrow evening.

I would describe it as being the valance below what I'd call the bumper but hopefully the pic's will show it properly.

Yeah, great thanks - just the valance that's cut isn't it. Wouldn't mind doing that as they're quite cheap I think, if I ever needed to change back.

Many thanks  now go and wash your car :D

No problem - I think it is just the lower valance that is cut. I presume that can be purchased on it's own. Not that you can tell in the pictures but it's not colour coded.

Car wash? What's that then? That's quite clean by my standards :D
