jsut had my car back from the garage, been there for a few days having a new hub, now its come out its missfiring and spluttering like mad.

had a remap by P-torque last sat but havnt drove it since as having a dodgy hub.

1st real day of driving it and its running like a bag of sh*t!

wasnt missing on way back from tuners but is really bad now an the engine management light is flashing.but it only flashes when i put my foot down (car builds up revs spluttering along the way) then stops when i take my foot off the pedal.

whats up coilpack??...maf sensor maybe???

HELP!!!!

i just bought all 4 from my local vw dealer around £102 inc vat so yeah around £25 each i went to euro car parts first an they charged me £120 and the coils threw up an open circuit fault so my advice go oem!

If it was fine when it went into the garage for the hub, then surely that suggests someone at the garage took it for an enthusiastic drive and blew a coil pack.

coilpack are really easy to swap over. get the bolt down ones though if your gonna replace all off them. to check which one has pull the plugs that are on the injectors one at a time you will soon find out which one is knackered because it will run the same, a good one will make it run worse. if its the black round ones i have three that work from when one of mine went, i changed them all but if you cant afford to replace them straight away i can send you them in the post for free just cover my postage.

Alright matey dont suppose you have th part numbers handy for the oem coilpacks as 1 of mine is playing up gettn the spluttering and eggy smell...also would a dodgey coilpack cause any boost loss??

could do yes. i found my boost loss was cured by re-setting the ecu (battery off for 10 minutes then re-alight the throttle body) but then if flagged up my dodgy maf (which is to be replaced in the morning) as the extra boost caused it to miss-fire at 4k rpm or above

i will check in the morning at the state of the plugs.do you just pull the black caps off them then unscrew them??

i didnt check the milage which was a little bit silly.but i has only been there 2 days???

pics will help if anyone has them?????????????

Im hoping the loss of boost is due to the duffed coilpack....done the MAF test and it seems fine.....wish i could get a hold of vag-com to see wat it comes up with, how do i re-alight the throttle body?

the coil packs consist of 4 individual units. to check the spark plugs you would need to undo them with a spark plug socket. to check which coil has gone he means unplug the electrical connector off the tops of each one individually. the one that is shot is the one where you unplug it and it makes no difference to how the engine is running

how do i re-alight the throttle body?

it does this if you click over the ignition to position 2 (just before the final turn to fire it up) and if you have the bonnet up you will hear a high pitched whine from around the inlet manifold, once this stops the throttle body has re-aligned itself, make sure you do this after taking the battery off. its worth a try mate and it costs nothing to test. i thought my maf was fine as i tried unplugging it before i'd re-set the ECU and it showed no difference. it only made a difference once i'd re-set the ECU and got the boost back.

so if i take the duff plug out it will run ok and i will have to replace that one.

it only splutters when i accellerate tho so i would have to drive it.

would there be any visual damage to the coil or plug???
