21 in July, just got my year's no claims (only been driving a year). I was driving a 2litre MK2 Ibiza (sorry!) but now getting a 2001 Leon Cupra. Who do you guys use - I'll be the main driver and go for Fully Comp.

id say there are quite a few you could use mate, im with admiral, but they dont particularly like mods, most of my mates go through adrian flux and get the best broker deal.

Do a confused.com or one of those kinda sites, will give you a good basis to work from.

I think your lookin at about 2 grand to insure if not more due to low NCB. Deffo wait till your 21 before getting the motor.

Try and get some quotes BEFORE you commit to the car.
Give you a rough idea of how much it will cost you, and go from there.
As mentioned, Adrian Flux do some good deals as do Green light.

Need to be 21 for Greenlight, so might be worth waiting a few months. Or until you can build another years NCB as it's going to be quite expensive I think!!

im 20 and have an LCR, elephant was the cheapest for me by a long way.

I put my my mam, step-dad and dad on the policy as named drivers and it brought it down by an extra few hundered.

It was still £1800 but that was fully comp, 1 accident and NO ncb so i think it was fairly good really

I'm 20, 1 years NCB, and a claim... 1700 fully comp with bell on a LCR.

Quick question tho, my renewal is in March and 3 months later i turn 21. Is there a way to take advantage of this as i'm sure it will drop when i turn 21, or will the insurance company take this into account?

My best quotes come from Bell and Elephant (same holding company).

Got mine for £1600 fully comp from Bell with breakdown cover included.
Elephant wanted £1800 and the cheapest after that was £3000 all the way upto £12000 from Barclays! :-o

21 years old (22 on 3rd March), no NCB but coming up on 5 years no claims on my birthday (inc. 6 months from 17th to passing my test), and in a pretty bad postcode.

Car: 2005, 55 Mk1 Leon FR TDi.

Worth a shot with them.

I'm with Bell and I asked them a similar question. For the sake of 2 months between buying my car and turning 22, they wanted an extra £400 off me. I asked whether they could fiddle it but got told that the number of years driving is in whole years only. I'd guess its the same with most insurance companies.

In the end, I just paid the extra.
