Coming up to my first service so thought i'd book it soon, saw that on the online thing I can pick from a bunch of different tyres so was wondering what people thought of them all? 180 FR Petrol Manual btw, size is: 225/45 R17 91W and the car came with bridestone...somethings, not sure which bridgestone specifically.

Mainly, I am looking to reduce the dreaded wheelhop/tramping that is absolutely rampent in the wet on even sometimes moderate throttle, and how it is now creeping into dry conditions too. It can be horrible, i'd rather just have wheelspin than the horrible banging noise!

My choices it seems are:

GOODYEAR Efficient Grip Performance

PIRELLI Cinturato P7 Blue

DUNLOP Sport BluResponse

HANKOOK Ventus Prime 2 K115 XL

HANKOOK Ventus V12 Evo2 K120

FALKEN ZIEX ZE914 XL

GOODYEAR EfficientGrip Performance

CONTINENTAL Sport Contact 5

MICHELIN Pilot Sport 3

MICHELIN Pilot Sport 3 XL

These seem to be the "recommended" ones anyway, as i assume these are my onl choices under warranty rather say than fitting anything else.

Like i said, looking for sharper grip, big reduction in wheel hop/tramping and decent wear and noise levels.

Thanks in advance for any feedback on any of these tyres.

Tyre change is part of your service? If yes...lucky you. Here in UK, cheaper to get it changed it outside the dealers at tyre franchise. Are you from outside the UK, eg...these will only be ur summer tyres in Europe?

Most of the tyres you mentioned are decent, if not a little last year?, maybe except the Falkens...which many seem to dislike. There was another thread recently about Falken Ziex 914s...
It also depends on your budget...many seem to also find Goodyear Eagle F1, Dunlop SportMaxx RT/2, Michelin Primacy 3 decent too...

If only those from this list, my vote goes to Michelin PS3 & Goodyear EGP

I guess you either have Bridgestone Turranza/Potenzas..currently..how many miles the car has? I had Turranza ER300 Ecopia, even with 6-7 mm tread, couldn't put 320NM torque down on 2.0TDI esp in 1st gear, spin, hop spin...traction control lighting up

I'm UK :), sorry thought i'd added that to my thing. These are the choices I get when i click on "book online" for a service, i can select 3 catagories, "service, accessories or tyres" i'm sure you can too if you tried online.

Anyway yeah, they are supposed to be summer tyres but i've had it with them, seeing the raving reviews for the Dunlop SM RT2 I am going to go with those with a garage down the road from me once i am "done" with these Torranza T001s...i'm only on 7600 miles or so but to me it feels like enough is enough xD.

I wasn't aware at first i was allowed to go with any tyre i wanted under warranty (car is 10 months old soon) so seeing as you suggest that i'll do that.

Absolutely no budget limit when it comes to good tyres, they are 17" so i cant get the super sports plus i heard good things about the eagles but even better things omn the RT2s so I am going to go with them in a few more weeks :).

EDIT

Funny thing, now the weather is warming up a lot more across the board, the tyres seem to be coping better. I mean, they still slip a bit and TC like to cut in a bit too offen but since i got my car originally end of august i never had much time to deliver a full, worn in hard set of driving in warm dry conditions as september/october got pretty mild quite quickly.

What I am going to do, is instead keep these tyres a bit longer and push them pretty hard in the nice weather we have currently, find the limit, find what works with them then perhaps in a few weeks time instead i can consider a 4 swap. May as well just rag em hard in the good weather as they seem at least for now, to be doing a bit better.

I trust that all your tyre pressures are at 'optimal' PSIs?

on my old Leon @ 10k miles, the fronts had 5mm left..rears 7mm left, tempted to swap them around, instead I swapped cars to a new Ibiza :).

I got it from new so yeah :).

Decided what to do anyway, get the most out of the current tyres for another 6 weeks or so and hopefully dry warm weather, then 4 swap to RT2s as i've continued to get superb feedback from then :).

You will get better prices from an on line trader such as Black Circles or Tyreshopper than at your dealer, and it will not affect warranty.
