so i have lights flickering at anything over semi-loud volume

i have done TB2, except for engine-chassis ground

'03 reg, original battery and original 90a alternator

i have 440w+ 150w going out, so not too much really.

the guy at car audio security suggested a cap, till i told him i thought they were bad.

then he suggested a split charge system.

ok..now....

if i bought a battery (maybe from
http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product_list/c_path/48_226_366/spd/batteries.html )

and it didnt fix the flicker, i could always spend the extra 50 on a split charge kit, and put the orig battery back in, and use the new one as the second one? (cuz i cant return the batt if it doesnt fix)

QUESCHUNZ.....

does anyone know which of those batteries will fit in a mk4 ibiza, and i assume any of those will work as my primary battery? (ie, they dont have any special wierd specification)

i am going for a new battery,

someone recommended a vauxhall delco freedom battery

does anyone know

a) what sort of size dimensions i need to worry about for a mk4 ibiza, are the battery securing bits in the ibiza adjustable so i could fit a battery with different dimensions?
b) what sort of amperage or watterage, or whatever other numbers i need to worry about :) what numbers should the battery be rated at

cheers

phil if you aint bought a battery yet then get an optima battery. I have just got one of ebay that is supposed to be £180 for £90 delivered (brand new) and it has 910 cranking amps (standard was 400) and looks the muts nuts aswell as it has a smart looking red top and is sealed and fits perfectly in my leon. You wont have any probs with power with one fitted (im running 2 powerful amps which are powering 4 components and a 12 inch kicker solobaric sub) and i was going to put a power cap in the car but didnt need it. Dont look in this part of the site often and would have replied earlier if i had seen this.
PS look on fleabay for the sound deadening aswell. I had mine well under half the price of dynamat and did my boot and all 4 doors for around £35

DON'T GET A POWER CAP! It's just another drain on your charging system and won't make a major difference.

Look at upgrading the wiring, the battery or even the amps themselves - class D mono blocks over AB, that sort of thing.

I upgraded to a 900w RMS mono block along with my 600w 4-channel jobbie, with some 0AWG wiring and I don't get voltage sag (the flickering you describe) until my ears are bleeding. Standard battery.

Caps are useless... they do not store enough charge to make a significant difference on a serious system. They normally supplement insufficient wiring on cheap bass vehicles.

A good quality amp will have an efficient power supply and not require extreme pesks, but does need good clean power lines. e.g. Battery to earth, Battery to amp and Amp to earth. The big three.

Copied from audio website - you can check for yourself. Any audio wiz or research will show you they're not worth the cash.

agree cap is a doorstop!!

TB2 is actually supposed to be TB3 grounds are the most important, i have a massive system with my sub amp at 2.5k rms and class ab speaker amp, i have split charge system with massive battery in footwell and i still get lights draining i cant get rid at all, although ive changed to hids and because they are lower voltage they dont dim only the interior lights

if your really into your audio you will know that theyre are better batteries for the same money as optima.

Optima are a good battery but the yellowtop has got its name by people who dont know a lot bout batteries buying them cos theyre mates got them and so on, its like vibe, so many people buy it coz all the halords crews have them when budget makes like jbl are much better!!!!
