Battery light came on

I'd just set off on my way from work, had the increasingly more often coolant 3 beeps come on, and ignored. Then, on joining the A40 and give it medium acceleration straight after the battery light started to flash on for about 10 seconds and then stopped.

I gave it a few more beans about 1 minute later, and the batter light came back on, and upon accelerating I felt the car judder a bit and the lights dim.

I crapped my pants and drove like a granny all the way home, with no trouble.

Near home I booted it again a few times to see if I could recreate it, but nothing.

Any ideas??

Oh, the OBD reader threw up 17695 as an error code when I checked after the journey (no idea if it was there before)

HALP!

EDIT: That code appears to be {Turbocharger bypass valve open}

Battery or alt knackered mate. You need to check the volts with the engine off, then with it running, you should see 12v DC when its off, and around 14.7v DC when running.

its alternator
mine has done this twice, within about a week, both under hard acceleration.
comes on for 5 seconds then disappears--its never done it since though........

check belts,
check voltage with car off and when cars running
mine was fine and has never done it since, 6 months now

Hmm.

I, well my bro when he was over (he's the smart one :) ) checked the battery and alternator just a couple of weeks ago and all was fine, as I am having issues with dimming lights when the music is turned up slightly.

I'd be guessing it could be a belt problem, if it's under acceleration??

Is the turbo bypass valve the DV?

Thanks again.

Please note the cold temp can cause your battery to die, or to loose power.

check your belts, charge rate, battery and alternator.

Battery could cost up to £130 if you fit yourslf
Alternator cost cost from anything to in excess of £350 quid unless you do it yourself.

In all honesty....... get it checked soon as you dont want stuck on the hard shoulder in the rain and cold.

This happened again this morning.

The only link to last time is that it's been damp and cold. Times in between it's only been cold.

Could that be faulty wiring or a belt? Could any odd job mechanic look at this for me?

Red LCR teardrop mirrors. Exterior all standard, though you might see the Xenons pop up sometimes :)

It's on a private plate.
