I don't know if anyone's gone a bit further and put something different in. Batteries are renowned for variable prices due to demand so it can be possible to use a better battery with more power.

Just a thought that's all.

Obviously its all down to dimensions and terminals.

That's about right price wise but if another battery can be bought for a similar price with more power and fits in the tray ok/terminals, I would replace it with that one.

Its the sort of thing that some people tend to make enquiries into.

The 096 might totally fill the tray and height maybe restricted due to the plastic shroud.

So not holding out much hope tbh but if you don't ask....

This post was BS. A type 100 battery is slightly down on power than a 096 after own research.

A casing point of not believing everything you are told!

A type 100 should be more than enough for the job as it is include in some manufacturer listing for the Leon.

Tis also a tenner or so cheaper.

Edit again and the above info is BS.

Done research myself and the Type 100 in like for like form to an 096 is the lesser battery.

Varta blue dynamic battery

096 - 74ah capacity and 680a cold crank

100 - 70ah capacity and 640a cold crank

Dimensions are exactly the same.

On a positive front the Type 100 is £10 cheaper. Would've thought the 100 is man enough for the job as some listings include it for the Leon.

Yer pays yer money.....

The 100 that you've quoted there is exactly the same as a standard 096, the figures you've quoted for the 096 are the calcium version.

Also I'm not sure if I've ever head of a 100? You got a link to one?

All details were picked up using Tayna batteries.

Both the 096 and the 100 were Varta 'blue dynamic' batteries.

096 spec linky

100 spec linky

The only caveat to add is that despite both being redarded as 'blue dynamic' the 100 mentions 'the new black dynamic ......' in the specifications even though the battery states blue dynamic.

Other notes to point out is that the 096 has a four year warranty rather than three years on the 100.

Make your own mind up.

Spec details as noted above are correct in accordance with the links.
