Probably my battery dying but thought I'd check...

Started the car this morning and it tried to turn over and just died....left it a few seconds tried again and it turned over a few times before starting and then sounded a little grubby (well it sounds like the exhaust is blowing when its cold)

I guess this is just the battery on its last legs or is it something else?

Measure the voltage with the engine turned off. It should read more than 12V. If it's less, the battery is empty.

Then measure the voltage when the engine is running. It should be somewhere around 14V. If it's not, your alternator is failing.
