Ok Ibiza Mk5 aficionados' help me out.
My cousin owns a 6J Mk5 2008 Ibiza SC 1.4.
She went away on holiday for a week or so and came back to a dead Ibiza. Nothing had been left on.
First time it happened, her dad charged it up and she took it to a local dealer, who diagnosed a bad battery. Without consulting me, she went ahead and got a brand new battery installed (while the car was under warranty).
All seemed fine on an almost daily basis until she left the car again for a period of 10 days over the xmas period. Came back to a dead Ibiza again. She called Green Flag who came out to her, and he said battery had been drained by something on the car, he suggested alarm (I think unlikely) but said the battery was fine. Gave her a jump/boost and all has been well on a daily basis since. But she knows if she leaves it for anything up to a week or more its likely to be flat again.
Now i've read a thread on here about others suffering similar issues and getting a software update, which may or may not of solved the issue? I presume this is to correctly turn off or reduce the current draw on whatever is staying active after the car is turned off.

Also found something similar reported on the RAC forums as well as on some foreign forums.

Its pretty poor in my opinion for a modern car to be draining its battery in under a fortnight, for example I left my Leon Cupra parked un-started recently for several months due to some health problems (long story), and it fired up first time like it had been parked ip the day before. Despite the alarm LED going out after a month as I believe it is designed to do.
She again took the car to the same local dealer (won't name them but they are not my favoured choice)
As the car is now out of warranty they wanted £76 to plug it into a diagnostic, which when my cousin complained at the cost they said ok we can do it for £60. Revolving price structure obviously.
Anyway she decided not to pay out and has left it as it is for now, as the car is ok on a daily basis. I think in the colder conditions its only going to be putting strain on the battery and I can see that period of time beginning to drop where it could end up failing after just a weekend parked.
The dealer also suggested that the software update mentioned by other owners is not gospel.
I plugged her car into my VCDS at the weekend and did a full auto scan. It came up with a number of faults, which i believe are only related to the fact the car had no power.
If anyone has had this software update and it solved your issues can you let us know about it, and if you have access to VCDS or are a tech in the know, if the SW number is listed in the logs below can you compare numbers?
Any assistance would be gratefully received, don't believe that anyone should have to pay to have a lead plugged into a car to check the software is at least up to date, at the very least it should be a nominal charge.
