Bad grinding knocking noises

Alright guys. I have what sounds like a major problem with my cupra. I have been noticing for a while that if you give it too much revs pullin off you get a a bit of a grinding noise

it was not until the snow arrived and it properly wheel span that i found out just how bad it is.

When you wheel spin in first, just slight wheelspin you get a massive knocking adn grinding noise. its absolutly awful

any ideas?

Might be the traction control biting in to keep things controlable...

no its a really bad noise. and it only does it from still. if you floor it while travellin along and it wheels spins it dont do it

Seems funny that it only does it when the car is stationary.

If it was drive related it would be making noices all the time.

Have you checked your engine mounts?

When you give it the biggun your engine twists, might be something catching in the bay.

Thats the EDL (electronic diff lock) its a system that is supposed to act like an LSD by slowing down one wheel that is travelling faster than the other (spinning basically)... It uses the ABS which is why it makes that horrible sound, doesn't sound good but trust me its fine !!

Look in the manual under EDL or something like that and it tells you all about it

i wouldnt say its fine at all

well two other Ibiza Cupras i've been in do it, my mates Golf GTI does it and so does a Leon Cupra R, so no my pedigree chum not far from normal at all

Mine does make a clunking noise when spinning which does not sound healthy.

It also cuts the power down.

I only noticed it too the other night and not heared if before I thought it may be the bearings or something?

I wondered if it was the TC or this EDL as the TC light doesn't come on (didn't notice). My mind is at rest now.

Less things to worry about now:

TAX (End of Dec)
MOT (Middle of Jan)
Insurance (Jan 21st)
