Had my mk2 golf gearbox fitted today so after a week of lending cars im independant again. had to catch the train today. £18 to travel 55mile made me feel sick. and the government wonders why more people are not using them!

the gearbox is a good fit but i think they had to put a bigger clutch on or something and she just doesnt feel as perky as it was with the proper gearbox!

also went to scrappys and found some boot reflectors. but the screw that holds it all on has some kind of starshape. is this a specialist tool i need from seat?

the one that came of mine was like a octogon star shape. this is more like a man star shape thingy <- worst explanation ever, i know!

edit: 5 point torx screw!

lol mentioned before... star thingy lol... its a torx screw.. youll need a male torx bit to fit it and remove... you can either buy some torx screwdrives or bits. T10 T15 T20 T25 T27 T30 are the most commen sizes.

aren't torx screws more like little hexagons? like the 1s u get in mobile phones?

Excuse the mess! She needs a wash!

wot u wanna do is go in thru the boot. take off the black lining on the tailgate & ull see the screw holding the reflector on being held in by a white plastic holder. I cut the holder off with some wire cutters. pulled the screw out & bobs ur uncle. To put it back on i used a nut & bolt! Far easier to get it on & off! hope this helps!

Yeah but it's inverted, you can usually pick a set up cheap enough if you look around you local stores or surf the net.

Had the same problem until today myself.
