Average life for front discs cupra r.

Due to replace my front pads this weekend and wondered if I should be looking at doing the discs as well, it's currently done about 35k mainly around town so was wondered what the average millage was for these before they need to be replaced.

Been trying google but could not come up with anything useful...

Any comments would be useful.

I replaced mine around that sort of mileage!

There are too many factors to be able to give any kind of accurate average. Look for obvious damage and/or lips on the discs. If you are able, you could check the thickness

IIRC it's 26mm. New i think is 28mm. I had mine done at 40K service.

mine need done, i'm at 38,000 now and will put ebc discs and ferodo ds2500 pads on next, will probably change to better brake fluid and braided hoses as well while i'm at it.

Had my discs and second set of pads fitted at around 23k

Minimum thickness is 26mm, I think it's stamped on the outer edge

Where are you getting the braided hoses from? Been looking for them for a while.

My Discs used to last two sets of pads, if that helps.

Not much wear in them, and I've had a few warp a bit as well. 1mm per side is not much - use the lip on the edge as a guide. From memory, a 1 pence piece is 1mm thick...

If the disc's arn't badly lipped or warped then ther's no need to change them, unlkess you want to upgrade of course,

But i cannot see why they would need doing at that sort of mileage unless you have big lead boots you use to drive in...

I think the most I managed out of a set of pads was 13k, but they were literally down to the backing, and I HONESTLY don't believe I use my brakes that hard.

Pads at 15-20k sure, but should the disc's need replacing at only 35k thats a little worrying isn't it, especially as mines down about 35k...

I'm a bit of a late braker, and mine feel fine, so i guess i'd better have a look at them then....

I could tell when mine were ready - the front right would start ching-ching-chinging, I think as the lip got so big it would catch the pad backing, or maybe it was the slight warping

I get 30,000 miles out of front disc and 40,000 miles out of rear disc
I only changed because lip was quite big and was changing pads any way
Pads usually 15,000 miles front and 40,000 miles rear
Next change soon for both soon (at 76,000 miles now) and will be going for EBC Ultimax discs front and rear and DS2500 pads all round
