Ok, so how do I get one of these cool graphics under my name on posts?

I looked at the Avatar's avail but it seems there isn't any to choose from!

Thanks for any help !

Rob,

Just sorted one out myself.. So here goes for the crash course...

(Apologies if this seems patronising but I get queries from my missus {she's technophobic} and I have to explain everything in greatest detail)

In your EDIT OPTIONS thingy there's an AVATAR option at the bottom.
CLick on the change AVATAR option.

Have a picture ready (saved on your PC) and select the:
"use Custom Avatars"

You can chose to load from a webpage or Browse your PC for the PICCY you want.

The size of the Picture has to be a maximum of 65 X 65 pixels (and shoulg be a JPEG or GIF image).

You can use Paint or Microsoft photo editor to resize and rename your picture.

Once this is all correct then you can submit your choice and Hey presto... It's there.

(that's how I did it anyway).

I suspect you need to generate an 'animated GIF'. Basically it's a series of frames all stored in the same file, bit like a cartoon.

Do a search for 'gif animators' - there's a few free donwloadable jobs around (ulead gif animator seems to ring a bell).

When you've generated it, store it on some webspace somewhere and point your avatar setting at it.

HTH,

Andy.

Sold - Oct 2006.
Animated gifs are easy to do..
they are done just like a flick book
(i cant be the only one to have made them when younger)

I was tempted to run around my car in circles taking pics so I could have it spining on the spot.
(I may still do it when i get my car back)

P.S. I used Paint shop animator.

I know this thread was from LONG ago, but I'm wondering, with the recent update are we no longer allowed to upload GIFs?

I get the message 'you cannot upload animated files' or something like that.

Annoying as I'm off work (sick) today and spent about 2 hrs doing a couple as I was bored lol !!

I even tried hosting them elsewhere and URL'ing them..

Works fine for me. Have you looked at the file size as there's this little note in the options...

Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 100 by 100 pixels or 19.5 KB (whichever is smaller).
