Aux problem, iPod connectivity query

Hi All

My 2007 FR has an aux input in the centre console, cracking I thought, however when I connect it nothing happens. My stereo has the CD/Aux button and Ive tried double pressing it and all sorts but no joy. I've searched on here and found out about pressing PROG and looking to turn the aux on/off but it is not there. I've read about others having similar problems can anyone advise me? I'm in my car a lot so would really like to play my own music from my phone. I have also tried others phones just to rule that out.

In addition my car is fitted with the underseat iPod port. This works great with the girlfriends iPhone but I don't have one :-( I was curious whether having both fitted could have caused some conflict but have noticed that the stereo recognises the iPhone as a CD changer so guessing not.

I was wondering then whether there is an adaptor available which would allow me to plug my Samsung Galaxy s2 into the iPod dock?
I have seen this one
http://www.advancedmp3players.co.uk/shop/Digital_Home.23/CableJive.550/DOCK-BOSSP/dockBoss__Smart_USB_and_Audio_Adapter_Cable_for_iPod_or_iPhone_Docks.13321.html?amp3sid=99pu637jhdjebkggrfra1p7c34

Which looks like it should do the job fine however I was hoping to avoid having the play music via the 3.5mm jack as it will no doubt mean a loss of quality.

Still looking for a bit of advice on this. I pulled the aux plug out today to find that there is nothing plugged into it and had a good look under the centre console to see if the wire is there but it is not.

My car also has the ipod connection under the seat and Ive read a few times on the internet that cars fitted with this end up having the aux removed. Can anybody confirm this? If so is the cable therefore the same one and plugged into the ipod unit and can I unplug it and plug it into the aux plug?

I was under the impression that you got either std AUX or iPod. My old 57 plate didn't have iPod connection, and the AUX worked perfectly - with my iPhone connected!

Yes I am certain you cannot have both working and that is fine. What I am trying to figure out is whether I can easily disconnect the iPod and have the aux working instead.

Amir please do let me know if you have any joy.
