Hi guys, I haven't received my Leon just yet but I have a question concerning the AUX USB output. If you we're to put a load of music onto an external hard drive could you play the music through that?

If you're talking about the USB port, yes you can but the drive has to be in FAT32 format and the head unit will read only up to 4 or 6 (not quite sure) folders.

I know it's on the facelift models, it's no bother if you can't as ill just use my phone but had this thought it could work.... Be great to use a tb hard drive ;) but as someone else said powering it could be the problem.

Ah yea I forgot about the powering issue. Nah, I don't think it'd work as it'd probably need an external power source to function properly. Flash drives, on the other hand, work fine.

i dont know if its just mine but if you put more than about 10 tracks on a usb it takes forever to start playing them as it reads every track first and when i say forever i means a good 5-10 mins

i use a 64gig usb stick cost £23 each album has its own folder and or sub folders (if it has more than 1 cd)
the folders are all displayed properly on the head unit and it works great but if you listen to club /dance music there will be a slight gap between the tracks

Yeah just seen you can pick them up cheap on ebay! saves faffing about with CDs and cables, I know I won't be using the USB slot for anything else!

Thanks for the advice guys :) Sooo looking forward to picking the car up on the 18th :)

For some reason my head unit only reads up to 6 folders, whereas you can put as many songs as you want on the main location of the flash drive. I have the RCD 310 head unit.

Lol I don't understand what you mean.

This is how mine is setup:

Of course that's just an imaginary folder.. not the real flash drive.

Thats what I meant by folders alongside lol, it's probably worth checking if the music is different file types... thats literally the only thing I can think of.
