aux heater

a mechanic stripped down the aux heater,no problems were found.it will not work for heating the engine coolant though.the gloplug works the fuse is ok,anybody any ideas.

Check that the aux water pump under the bonnet (mounted to the N/S of the bulkhead) is working correctly...should operate for approx 5 minutes everytime you turn the ignition off.

If this pump fails it will cause the aux heater to overheat (as hot coolant remains static in the heater until) which leads to an 'overheat shutdown'

If this happens 5 times the heater unit is 'locked out' from starting by the A/C ECU.

The only way to 'reboot' it is to clear the fault memory and try it.

the pump is working,you hear it running for a good few minutes after the engine has been turned off.i always stay away from dealers,licensed to rob.
