Think it could be done because its an electronic switch anyway. Sadly I dont know of anyone who could carry it out.

I might not have the right understanding of this topic, but no amounting of recoding will make the hatch lift. Another issue is, from my experience of having older Fords with boot releases, the design of the hatch "popper" needs to inhibit this operation while the car is moving or the contents of the boot will get sucked out if it is accidently opened at motorway speeds. I think that that era of Ford achieved that by using the alternator control in the control, ie alternator running "popper" inhibited.

Edit:- I'd expect nowadays that the "inhibit" function on todays cars would use some other means of doing this as the controller can have access to a lot more signals.

On my Ibiza keyfob there is a boot release button so if you add the gas lifter struts the boot unlocks and the gas lifters open the boot simples!!!:D

Have you tried this yet? I'd reckon that it might work for a short time then the locking unit will get a bit grumpy about having to open a latch that is a lot heavier loaded that normal. Probably need to beef up the latch/locking unit.

Haven't got round to adding new struts myself yet but a mate of mine didn't even go that far he just added poppers where the rubber jams are these push up the doors far enough for the the oem struts to do there stuff just a bit slower than the uprated struts. But I get where you're coming from and with the amount of people suddenly having issues with their boot release I'd probably think long and hard before doing it:shrug:
