Autogauge Boost gauge wiring problems....

Today I attempted to fit an autogauge boost gauge to my MK4 cupra, but having wired the following a few strange symptoms seem to occur :

Black Wire - Earth and gets a negative 12V DC reading, and a good continuity reading
Red Wire - +12v DC, gets a postive 12V DC reading, and a good continuity reading
Orange (stated as Dimmer + 12V DC) and White (stated as Ignition + 12V DC) are crimped together.

All are wired as per the Autogauge guide in the Leon MK1 forum, with Black going to brown, Red to red and the orange / white into the grey with blue marking. All plumbed in correctly.

Fired engine up, no lights or negative (vaccuum) reading.

Put the orange wire onto the power wire and you get a red face, and then it switches off, put the white wire (ignition) onto the power wire and it fires up, starting ceremony and just sits there flashing on and off permanently:confused:, and thats how it currently sits:shrug:

Any help people?

Can anyone shed any light on this? It just flashes on and off constantly and the needle stays right at the bottom of the gauge:cry:

If I can't figure it out, i'll just order a liquid gauge tbh.

I think it is down to a wiring issue in all honesty.

What I need to know is on the back of the lighting panel / wiring block, which colour wires are for the Dimmer feed and also for the ignition switch feed? Can you shed any light on this?

I took the power for mine off the head unit wiring, so much easyer to get the right ones ;)

You managed to find a Dimmer and switched feed here, along with the obvious 12v+ constant live and earth?

No dimmer, just a perminant live, switched live and ground.

I'm not bothered about my gauge dimming as its not over powering at night :)

Just a quick update, we re-wired it up to the headunit working (everything bar the dimmer) and still it just flashed at me:cry:

Turned out in the end to be a dodgy connection on the back of the gauge from the sender unit. All sorted and working now:D

Cheers for the replies / advice.
