I have an intermittant problem with my Auto Drive selection, sometimes when I press the footbrake the solonoid does not seem to engage to allow gear selection. Stomping on the brake pedal seems to fix it though sometimes it takes a lot longer - is there a switch that engages the solonoid when you press the brake - I need some help please

My first thought would be a faulty brake light switch - that is, if the solenoid is powered form the brake light circuit (easiest way imo)... had the brake light switch go in my leon, and the abs would cut in before the brake lights came on...

Could be wrong tho...

brake light switches are very common as a fault

considering the cost it would be worth changing anyway - part numbers are on em

PS- solenoids do get sticky also - iirc they are in the console on teh side of teh gearchange
