Went out in my mates Cupra R on Christmas eve and we swapped stories and lols etc. I moaned at him for not having leather seats, then he booted it and said that it was a bit quicker than my cupra

Anyway, not sure if this a cupra only thing, but when his car goes over 15mph, all the doors lock, which I thought was great as the missus is always worried about getting jacked and helps keep the kids in.

I did a quick search for the anti hijack, auto lock but could nt find anything to particular. Is this a VAG.COM turn off and on thing, courtesy pack feature. Could a dealer just plug it and enable it.

Have a 52 plate cupra

only thing that annoys me is passengers pull the door handle on the first pull really hard not realising the door has looked itself and then when you say that you have to pull the handle twice they think its broke lol

I have a 2004 Cupra R and you can change the door settings with a switch located on the end of the door (you have to have the door open to access it). This also enables you to activate child locks etc.

Mine locks at 15mph as well.

Yeh, I'm sure my passenger door handle is going to break, people think its stuck and just yank it! I just need to get into the habit of unlocking the doors before I come to a stop! :)

I checked the manual (couldnt check on my car as I'm 3000 miles away from it at the moment, but thats another story). You cant (as I earlier implied, sorry  ) switch this feature off via the switch located at the end of the door. This is only on the rear doors and is for the child locks (using the ignition key to switch it).

The manual states: Automatic Locking The doors will lock automatically when the vehicle exceeds speeds of 15 km/h. And thats it. I would imagine (as suggested by 1.9...Stefan earlier) that the only way to deactivate this is to use a laptop and access the engine management system.

The manual does also highlight a perculiar feature to watch out for if you happen to disconnect the car battery though:

Notes
The automatic opening/closing, and rollback
functions* on the driver and passenger
door windows will not function after
the vehicle battery has been disconnected/
reconnected.
To reinstall this function after reconnecting
the battery, please note the following
points.
• Lock vehicle from the outside via the
driver’s door. When doing this please
ensure that all doors and windows are
closed completely.
• Lock the vehicle again via the driver’s
door. Hold the key in the locking position
for at least one second.
This reactivates the system.

Very Strange

Sometimes I find it easier to remove the key from ignition before they get out.

TWICE TO OPEN THE DOORS!!!!!:doh:

lol its funny reading the comments this thread because i can never decide whether i want to keep it for the safety aspect or get rid of it because of constantly saying TWICE to people when they want to get out!!!

Im pretty sure that yours has been turned off via Vag-Com as never heard of one not doing it. Sure there is someone in your area who has Vag and can sort it in the near future mate.

i have had the anti-hijack on my car since i bought it, and i find it ruddy annoying.
i'm more worried about my oaf mates breaking the door handles than getting mugged, and it seems every time i want to get into the boot the clever thing locks itself.
However the local garage say's its £80 standard charge just to plug the vagcom in whether its to do diagnostic checks or to change any of the cars systems...
Time to go on a popular internet auction site, buy my own vagcom connector for £30ish and do it myself methinks..
