hello mate welcome to the forum,

i've had a look in the handbook, and it says this....

if you press the "PROG" button till you hear a beep, it says the display will show the last function selected, so perhaps this will be the "phone" mute.

if not, if you press the "track" < or "track" > buttons till you have scanned thu' to "SM VOL" check what level this is set to, the max i beleive is 12.

The "SM VOL" function is the volumn when you get a phone call if you have a car phone kit installed, so check what level it's set to, and try turnnig it up to max.

Don't know for sure if this will work or not, tbh, but i cannot find any mention of how to actually turn if off completely.

If it constantly says "Phone" it's possible that the Tele Mute lead is shorting out somewhere, and thus the HU thinks a phone is active...

Only thing I can think of...

yeh has to be that the phone wire is shorted ...take it out, snip the wire off and wrap i a lil in tape to make sure, then try it all again.

Did snipping the wire fix it? I've got the same problem, and after speaking to a couple of Seat service desks, they reckon its more likely that the head unit is at fault, than the wire shorting out somewhere.

Let us know how you get on.

I wouldn't imagine the phone mute connection is connected to anything unless there has been a handsfree kit fitted to the car at some point.

Sounds likely to me that the head unit's packed up as suggested by the dealer - personally I'd just pick up a cheap £50-£60 model from hellfrauds or similar - it'll actually have a CD player as well then!!

Surrey darling...
I've had this happen to my Pioneer headunit in the Golf and it did turn out to be the handsfree wire shorting out... It'd be worth pulling the stereo out and checking it before panicking too much

i did find wiring details years ago i think on an audi forum. tried disconnecting all relavent wires did not help. seat dealer wanted over 300 notes for a reconditioned unit !!. by all means try , but my advice is cut your loss and buy a replacement.
