Audi headunit in leon?

Just having a thought. Is there a headunit from an A3 / A4 etc that would:

1, Fit in a leon (size + cabling)
2, Run the leon cd changer
3, Have an RCA pre-out?

Why?
They do have pre outs - they are just pins but they are pre outs.

I have rasied threads previously about stealth ice and i'am still looking for a good way to have a radio that i can just leave in without fear of it being nicked. I thought one out of an A3 (old shape) would be the same size since its the same dash and the lighting colour will be the same. Obviously i'd like to keep my changer and i want the preouts for my amp and not a high level converter.

Keeping everything oem is the name of the game, just feels like im gonna loose!

An audi Concert HU out of an A3 would definately satisfy options 2 and 3 but you might need facia panels etc out of an A3 for it to fit in the Leon.

Do you have an Aura CD HU? If so a high to low convertor will be fine. The output of the CD HU in the leon is pretty flat.

no mines the aura tape hu. If the A3 concert will run the changer and has pre-outs then thats a good step. Do the audis have different wiring? If its just the facia to worry about then for me its game on! I dont want to have to chop the wiring cos to me its criminal..

Wiring should be the same yes, but remember changing the facia isn't as easy as it sounds. The climate controls will look odd in an A3 facia and the switches are different etc.

Personally I'd buy a Aura CD HU and an alpine speaker to RCA convertor as it will probably work out cheaper and will look perfect in the dash.

theres always a snag! OK i'll have a look on e-bay and see if there are any aura cd's, failing that it's a trip to a scrappy but then im not that lucky...

The CD HU's come up on ebay frequently, and might be worth sticking a wanted ad on here

What about one of the Beckers? They look pretty OE and the colour of the lighting matches the dash perfectly.

true, but arnt they like £330... If i was to spend that money it defeats the point as although it looks oe i'd be scared sh**less to leave it on display.

Hey IceCavern any reason why you think the concert would need facia adapters? I've had a look at some piccys and they look the same size?

Agreed, I've got the same unit as above, after having replaced a flashy Alpine 9835R with it, I'm quite happy to leave the Becker on display, doesn't look anything special to the common opportunistic thief. The ipod isnt on display
