OIne question though - the unit comes with an ISO block on the end and how on earth can you hide all the cable behind the cash as the extra ISO block I used make the wires about 100 yards long.

What a pile of poo, now the normal unit powers itself off now and again and when the key is taken out of the ignition the door no longer unlocks and turns the radio off . . . .

You've blown the "S Signal" fuse - the location's in the manual. If I remember correctly, its a 5 amp mini blade fuse.

Fitting stereos to MK4s is a ballache, To get room for the wiring loom, I cut the bottom drawer in half and covering the end in black tape so it looked normal in the car.

Keep trying combinations with the wires, you'll get there. I know its a nightmare as its happened to me on many occasions. On some cars, you only need one wire connected but I'm sure thats for permanent on wiring only.

Oh and if you use the radio, get an aerial amplifier now so you don't have to take the stereo out again. These are £10 from Halfords.

S Signal doesnt look blown to me - bit a perfect silver strip, would this turn the unit off now and again too ??! I think my Sony unit has fooked itself too, I could cry

My fuses also looked OK, but I swapped them over for others, everything worked again. Swap it with another fuse and see what happens.

It shouldn't turn the unit on and off at random, I guess thats a wiring issue at the head unit end, and the probable cause for a dodgy S signal fuse. The headunits probably fooked too, its a Sony. Sorry, but I hate Sony with a passion, mainly because of their faulty headunits.

I just fitted a Pioneer HU to my Leon and it was a tight squeeze. I had the same problem with the losing of settings, so asked my mate who knows this stuff. He said change the wires cos trigger wire etc etc. I did and nothing worked. It had blown two normal fuses 37 and 42 from memory but I changed both, one was 10 amp and one was 15 amp. It now works and when I get time I will go to his house and he will sort it!

Turned out you dont leave the key in the ignition when you change the wires over!!! doh. All working now, including thre mp3 lead at the back.

plenty of room at the back of the Beeza mk4, specially if you take the cubby tray out first ;)
i gotta Nokia bluetooth kit and control box fitted behind the HU, bit of a squeeze, but loads more wires than a loom for aftermarket HU
