Are Wiring Adaptors Really Needed?

When I had my mk3 ibiza (which I still miss :( lol), I changed the front speakers, my brother is now wanting to do the same on his ibiza.

I've seen that there are wiring adaptor kits around to connect aftermarket speakers to the ibiza cables. It was a while ago when I did mine, but I'm sure I just cut the wires and joined them together and wrapped them in leccy tape!

But just wanted to see if this was correct, and what other people do? Is it worth getting the wiring adaptors (like this: CLICK), or is it fine to cut the wires and join them manually like I THINK  I did?

Tut tut cut and tape I am a sparky and see so many bad joints cut and taped I no it only speakers but would much rather put a couple spade crimps on the cables and push them on to the connections just so there is defo no crackling or chance of dissconnection. Mite improve sound qulity as well just me being me though.
