Hi,

Before I commit to buying these wheels please can anyone help me determine if they are the real thing or if they are replicas?

Here are some images:

Thanks

Are they the wheels you're looking for?
Hard to say on your pic, but if you're after these they look real to me (but the inside of the spokes would tell you more.
For 900 and if they are to your taste I would buy them. Someone had them refurbished (new and with just a paintjob they would cost more unless the seller is really struggling to find a buyer)

They are not refurbed, the bloke only had them on car for 250 miles, been sat in his shed for a couple of years now he is having a clear out.

I thought you can check from little holes between bolt holes and the location of the motorsport text etc?

The better replica's can only be recognized by weight and bbs printed in the wheels (imitations don't have that...)

On the link I posted you can clearly see the bbs logo so I guess they are real. I would collect them and check them in real and you might have a nice wheelset.

Yeah, just zoomed in on the pictures he sent and they do have the bbs logo on the wheel rim so guess they are the real thing :)

Check Those carefully m8, They should come in bbs boxes
And each wheel should weigh less than 11kg, lots of the
Reps have identical marking to the originals, also reps have
The offsets crudley stamped on inside of rim, original
Bbs offsets should be moulded inside the rim, also reps
Have a machined groove finish on inside, genuine bbs
Should be smooth on inside, ive had 3 sets of chs and
These have been my findings, hope this may help.

Photobucket seems to be having issues so the pics are not working.

I've seen boxes and they are BBS boxes. The rims have BBS markings on, also "8J x 18H2", "CH 025", 01 and also some JL looking mark.

Ive been looking long and hard at these wheels, the only noticeable difference from the link CUPRAROB112 posted, which i do believe are geniune BBS wheels is that there are more stamps on the inside rim than on these wheels. They do look good tho but you can buy replica bbs for less than 400 pounds and get red center caps for 7 quid.. We will never know if fake or not unless we see the back of the wheels

Best proof would be an invoice from BBS factory, as I have with my CKs.

I didn't think they did BBS in black with red rim? There were shed loads of reps on eBay with this a few years ago though.

so BBS didn't do a black wheel with red lip?

Wow, this is a nightmare trying to check if real or not, I've asked for a picture of the inside, the bloke it sure they are real but hopefully will get image soon.

He replied to me with this?

"BBS went bankrupt in 2007, this was one of a range of special edition finishes that the new owners of BBS did when they came back on to the market after six months of ceased production at the BBS factory.
The spigot rings are an interchangeable part and therefore removeable. My golf was running them with the correct spigot rings to suit. You can buy the correct spigot rings on ebay, to suit a different range of cars with 5x112 fitment.
They are genuine BBS wheels. "
