Are LC and LCR suspension parts different?

If so, how, and do the parts from the LCR fit the LC, i.e. shocks and springs? I'd like to spend a bit of cash on my LC this year, including wheels, LCR bumpers/skirts and a remap, but also possibly an exhaust and suspension.

Any help greatly appreciated, and also can anyone point me in the direction of the best of each mod to go for, i.e. decent exhausts etc etc.

Cheers,
Jay :)

Yes they are very different on the front end, not different on the rear

There is a sticky thread at the top of the MK1 Leon section on LCR suspension which may be some good bed time reading for you.....

Also have a look in the guides section on the main SCn site

The LCR has a different front subframe to the LC. Mounting points for wishbones, ARB etc are different. You need Golf MkIV stuff for the LC.

For other things, do a search, there is stacks of information on here.

Just had a quick read, very good stuff :).

Am I to take it then that while the LCR has an S3 front end, my car, the LC, is all MK4 Golf? I always thought this was the case, so I assume that I can use parts labelled as either MK4 Golf fitment or LC fitment?

Rough rule of thumb yes, however, the parts should be labelled LC as well......whe ordering a quick phone call should confirm this.

Highly recommend some nice chunky Anti Roll Bars, short shifter for gear box (Forge), dog bone engine mount, remap as places to start on your car.....

Will you fit the parts yourself??

There are a lot of good parts around designed for the LC (or cars it shares it's DNA with) so you shouldn't need to worry about the LCR parts. So long as you remember they are different, so you order the right things, the aftermarket suspension options for the LC will give you plenty of options :)

Awesome. A remap and a set of wheels will be the first port of call in a couple of months I think.

I did want to use genuine LCR bumpers and skirts etc but am now worried they might not fit, at least at the front?

They will fit just fine. They aren't cheap and you need the right fitting parts to go along with it as well as the grills, but they will fit fine :)

I wouldn't. Replicas tend to be made from fibreglass which, while quite strong, is brittle and doesn't flex enough for use on car bumpers. This means that if you hit a kerb too hard, or have even a minor bump, you can say goodbye to your bumper. Plus, as you say, the fit and finish isn't often very good.

Keep an eye on eBay and the For Sale section here though, as every now and again a full set of bumpers crops up :)

Keeping it within the SEAT flock is always a nice idea. As you've said, you do run the risk of buying into poorly fitted kits. Not to mention the fact that most after-market kits favour reducing any aerodynamic benefits your standard car is gaining from.

Are you in a Mk1 non-facelift? Or do you have the same front end as my car? (Check my signature)

It's a 51 plate non facelift. I think the facelift stuff actually looks pretty cool as well as the LCR stuff.

I can't wait to get her back, not driven her for about a month now. The engine seized and the dealer is currently fitting me a replacement that's done 38k. The original had done 76k so can't complain, so long as they fit the right engine and not a VW 150 lump lol.

Haha. Mk4 Golf GTi lump for you, mate! Enjoy your 150! :D

Personally, I prefer the look of the Mk1 face-lift. Although there are major benefits in-terms of IC location on the Cupra-R front bumper and the large gaping grill.

Would you not consider the Mk1 Face-lift body? Double your odds of landing a sweet OEM kit for you Cupra

Yeah I would have that as I think they look as good as the Cupra R with the right set of wheels, so if there's one comes up I'd deffo take it. Is the facelift rear bumper different? The skirts are same as LCR are they not?
