i have just bought a seat cupra20 vt , i was told it tuned with a apr chip or remap ,now i have looked at other posts on here to see if i can find out about this ,the car is boostin around 15- 20psi so it has something done to it .can someone tell me if disconnecting the battry to fix the the melted fuse box on top of the battry will reset the ecu back to stock or will it be ok cheers

its defo remapped or chipped at those boost pressures

if you've got an issue with melting fuse on top of the battery, the fusebox may need cleaning or replacing. but disconnecting the battery wont lose your performance

APR is a physical chip change on that model so no you wont loose anything from disconnecting the battery.

Rogers has an APR map, he disconnected th battery and couldnt get the switch on the stalk to change the map settings. Apparently he had to find the security code and enter that to make the functions operate properly.

ah right i see - that is only if they have chosen to have security lock out - this is a 4 digit code that the customer chooses when the chip gets written. If the battery gets disconnected then yes it can put the security back on, which would need the code entering to allow the programs to be switched again....(and breathe! lol)

right i have a piece of paper with the apr leaflet that has writen on it chip code afterdead battrey it says
ecu unplugged
-stalk on
-set once
-stalk off
-stalk on

-set twice
-stalk off
-stalk on
-set 3 times
-stalk off
-stalk on
-set 4 times
stalk off

just fitted the new fuse box never actualy disconected the battrey , took it for a spin still boostin at 15 psi seem ok but still want to know what the stalk on stalk off is all about.. cheers dave...

that sounds like the normal way to input the lockout code. That would be the way to enter the code "1234". Does your car have multiple programs on it?

i have no idea what programs is on the ecu at all ,need to take it to the place where it got done .....when it say stalk is that the mpg and trip thing on the right hand of the stearing wheel stupid question i know ........cheers dave

no it has no cruise control

The switch on switch off things is to do with the cruise control stalk - which is in place of the left hand indicator stalk. if you dont have cruise you wont have multiple programs.
