APR vs REVO Power

Roughly between 4 - 7k rpm!
Been through the search section and can't find anything relating to this topic.

My query is:

From members experience what is the standard max wheel horse power from a LCR 225 with REVO and APR. Is there any major difference or is it just 2-3 bhp?

Really can't decide which one to go for as wanting cruise control fitted as well soon and as APR fit that at a reduced price with the purchase of the remap it seems the sensible option although i don't want to lose power just because i'm being tight on my wallet!

Cheers

I'll bet you £20 you can't tell the difference between 5bhp let alone 2-3bhp.

Anyone buying these remaps for ultimate wheel BHP isn't looking at the things that matter;-

Dealer Service
Drivability
Power Delivery
How Future Mod's will work with Remap

etc, etc, etc

Plenty of info on all the above on SCn

Ask thermalp4 he had a Ibiza Cupra R with Revo and it was pretty good  he then got a Leon Cupra R and had it Revo'd and it was a blast! :p

He recently sold his VR6 to come back to the VAG 1.8T brigade and has got himself a APR mapped Ibiza Cupra. His opinion/next step .... Getting the ECU flashed at the Revo HQ and have Revo put on it. :funk:

That's just his opinion and I had a Revo'd Leon Cupra R and now I have a standard Ibiza guess what remap I'll be running after Christmas? ... REVO

Good point. I know that APR has the option for turning the program on and off easily with the cruise control stalk if for example you need to visit the dealers. This is an advantage although i know you could buy an SPS device for the REVO software.

I have had the demo of both. I did prefer the delivery of the APR but i have just been thinking whether the REVO remap produced more BHP

Nobody can answer that question with complete honesty but do some research looking at perhaps the results from the Awesome GTi rolling road day and Stealth Rolling road day. This is NOT definitive......just an indication on the day of various cars....

You could always read you own post back in October entitled APR & Revo

http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=69404&highlight=revo+apr

This is a slightly different title. I am trying to find out different peoples WHP with REVO and APR! I have viewed all cars on Awesome Gti rolling road and so far found no one with a standard APR mapped LCR. I have noticed that the REVO LCR produce about 230bhp at the wheels! Trying to find the comparison!

Well Kieth I think your search button does not work well.
There have been so many heated discussions on this subject.
All you will get is I have had Revo and its good.
Or I have had APR and its the best.
This has all been said before.
Nobody has gone through the whole of the remaps on 1 car to give the best of all.
They can drive differently and the power can be more bottom end or top.
The best thing you can do is do some research in to this.
Look at the different options available.
Find what suits you not what is the most replies you get from this tread.

You will not find a true comparison, here is one though

My car Awesome Gti - October 05
Flywheel 223bhp and 238.09lbs/ft

My car Stealth - Jan 2004 (lower State of tune)
Flywheel 272bhp and 311lbsft

Extreme example but hopefully that demonstrates the different figues on different days at different rolling roads

I'd consider the mod path also.

We've had a fairly interesting year when it comes to bhp figures to put it mildly!! I wouldnt read too much into BHP as it doesn't honestly mean that much at these tolerances of difference.

If you want a stage 1 remap then its as easy as taking a punt on gut feel, reviews and personal preference.

If you want to undertake a more lengthy upgrade path consider that Revo have a stage 1,2 & 3 package depending on pocket depth.

5 bhp at 225bhp or above is less than 2% so you just wont feel it. Also consider your demos wont have run at full adaptation.

I had AmD on my last LCR, then switched to Revo for my new one. I have no regrets as the Revo feels more urgent. Also they offer flash upgrades when the software is developed / improved. I can testify I had a few issues with stage 2 but all have been resolved with a very personal and friendly service to complete satisfaction.

So how do VAG state that the BAM engine is 225bhp at the flywheel if you are pushing 223 with mods? I thought they had been measured at wheels not at flywheel like at Stealth

LOL Wheel fig was lower (those were clutch / fly figs)
Don't believe my car was 100% that day but the Revo stage 2 cars were only posting 240ish bhp atw or near 250bhp at the clutch

What matters is how it goes on the road not what some print out from a bl00dy set of rollers

I can now answer this, as chewbacca was @ awesome today with his 04- 68K miles- 225LCR bone stock just serviced, 3 runs as follows

192................195..................197 all bhp @ the wheels

207.................210..................213 clutch bhp

208..................208.................208 Lbft on all 3 runs!!!!! stock is 206Lbft!!!!

Thats 15 ish bhp added for transmission losses interestingly 225TT do 175 bhp ATW all day long stock

We offer the upgrade path too.
This is what I say.
Not one person can try all the remaps available so who can say which is best?

Keithrann - where do you live?

If you live around the North West pop over to Awesome Gti and ask Mark for a spin in his APR'd 'R' - believe me you wont want anything else.
