Just recently had APR stage 2 sofware loaded car now is absloutley amazing I noticed today when you drive the car fast and try to again it seems to be flat no power at all.

If you then switch the ignition off and on it goes back to normal, I will speak to Awsome on monday I was wondering if any one has had similar problems and what it could be ?:(

Forge 007 DV

Sound like it's dropping into limp mode or soft limp mode. If you've got a boost gauge, you'll see that when it does it drops from about 1.5 bar boost to 0.8 or even 0.5.

You have some kind of problem, might just be you running a Super Unleaded program with regular 95 unleaded and the timing being too much.

Get yourself back to Awesome or whereever you had it done...

Theres a guy I know of who has exactly that problem on his LCR. His car was checked out and confimed to be mechanically sound so could it be the map at fault? He's getting a refund AFAIK.

Gary - I can never quite work you out - surely you're not saying that APR's LCR code is faulty? Even if it were, are you saying that they wouldn't/couldn't fix it?

It's more likely to be some fault with the guy's car, some sensor or the car not meeting requested, or over boosting or something...

thanks for the response guys, i've just been out in it again drove at 30mph for a couple of miles then tried to accelerate just no power so there is something wrong just find it really strange when you switch the ignition on/off the power seems to come back for a short time.

I will ring Awesome on Monday.:(

Thanks

Just posting what was found, the guy had his car checked out and found no apparent problems or errors. Something didn't sit quite right on his car and now theres another with the same problem.

When it drops into limp mode, it's doing it to protect the engine because it's detected some kind of transient fault. Turning the ignition off and on resets the fault and the car comes out of limp mode.

When you say ring Awesome - they'll more than liekly want to see the car...

It's a shame that you didn't get what you wanted from APR/Awesome, they seem to be very helpful with other people. At least you're getting your money back. I'd be interested to know what the "serious issues" were.

I didn't actually say Gary was biased - I raised the point because there are many different reasons why the guy's car would be dropping into limp mode, but Gary suggested straight off the bat that there is something wrong with APR's code.

I said that I couldn't work him out, the reason for this is that he's obviously been at this for a while and he does seem to know his stuff, but then he jumps in with comments about products and companies that baffle me.

Now, you raise the subject of whether he is biased - it certainly seems that way. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but Gary's always seem to come across in a biased way. Rather than offering an opinion, other products and companies get bashed first. Might not be intended that way, but that's how it comes across - and now you've started. A very good example is that other thread you've both posted in - the OP asks if anyone knows anything about DMS on an LCR and you both jump in with comments downing Revo and then a CC promotion  You don't say anything about DMS. Can you see why an outsider like me wonders what the agenda is?

These forums seem to be very neutral, okay there is an underlying Revo popularity/bias, but more often than not when someone asks which is the "best" tuner, you get a reasoned response. The neutrality and the informative reasoned opinions are what attracted me in the first place and what keep me here now, and I think why we see some many "big name" owners as regualr vistors.

I would certainly consider CC for this or my next car, the product sounds good, JBS are closer than my nearest Revo dealer, you and others seem to be very happy with it, tuners like Bill are using it and I like the software switching.

One thing that would put me off is this consistent "pushing" - it just seems like something really fishy is going on..

There isn't anything fishy going on from my end and im sorry if I come across the wrong way.
I know the full story behind dssr's problem and also part of the story behind the other LCR which has the same problems as the OP's problems (soft limp).
In both cases it seems that Awesome and APR didn't do enough hence two refunds.

I've never bashed Revo as their code is excellent but I will stand up and say that CC's code is better (not infinatly but better all the same) - thats from previous experience with both 4bar and Stage 2 software.

Just keep us upto date mate would be interested in knowing what they have to say!

Could be a bunch of things sending it into limp mode usually overboosting!

If there is a problem with the code I have never had any serious problems.

Has the engine warning light come on?

Hi mate,
Your going into soft limp, Get Jim/APR to tone down the torque requests @ high load in the map, usually happens in 4/5/6th gears....... Lets get one thing right here, AWESOME will sort the issue given chance(not just asking for refund) remember revo had a few probs with stage 2 code's @ launch, every possilblty cannot be proven and problems do happen from time to time........ maybe more to this than meeets ther eye, with Sarah now working @ awesome and JBS loosing her:shrug: HHHHMMMM play nice boys ;)

 I don't think that stating that 'Revo are popular on this Forum and that the Power peaks early then dies just as quickly but gives that turbo rush' is doing Revo down, just giving an objective view of the map characteristics, as far as Revo was concerned Gary originally ran Revo on his car and actually preferred it over the initial Custom Code map until it was tweaked!
There is no Agenda here, just pleased with the product and enthusiastic about it, had APR responded to my concerns, Both myself and, to their credit, Awesome GTI tried over two months to get APR to re address the coding of my map to no avail, had they done so I may well have still been running the APR Map!

Guys

I will keep you posted, but there is no engine light comming on, when you try and accelerate you can feel it wants to go but something is holding until you switch ignition on/off then the power comes back.

Hello All

Just to keep you posted picked up my car on Friday from Awesome drove it home with a big grin on my face.:funk: :funk: :funk:

The problem transpired to a intermittent faulty MAF sensor.

I must stress the service I recieved from Awesome was fantastic which included a courtesy car while mine was being sorted.

WELL DONE AWSOME !!!

Andy from Awsome is going host the RR figures which are very impressive.
