Anyone tried LED replacements for 382 P21w DRL bulbs yet?

Does this mod mean you lose your 'High beam' though?
No. ;)

I perhaps should have made explicit, this mod is only for folks with factory bi-xenons, which means that both dipped and main beam functions are done by the bi-xenon unit (the big round projection lens you see in the pics above).
On such cars, the 'high beam' reflector is redundant so they've used it for DRLs, with a 382 type tungsten bulb in the position where the high beam bulb would go on a non-bi-xenon model.

This mod is simply replacing the existing DRL bulb with an equivalent LED unit but the function hasn't changed at all... they just light up (by default) during the daytime when the ignition is on and the lights are in either OFF or AUTO position. :)

That's weird. Those lights on my Cupra come on when high beam is selected. The bi Xenons also switch to high beam.
Is this a year of manufacture change? My car is MY2008.

My DRLs go out as soon as the xenons come on. It's an MY2010 from april this year. It's kinda odd but I guess you dont need both on

I noticed the Audi LEDs stay on which ever lights are used apart from dimming when signalling.

LED DLR'S . No more posts from GainfulShrimp who appeared to have cracked the problem..

Wonder if the Ebay item no 180525072083 is the successful story it initially appeared to be..

Any update on this subject would be much appreciated. The idea of splicing in a resistor dont appeal to me..
Cheers Jake

I'm still very happy with them, Jake. Haven't noticed any flickering (some cheapo LED units exhibit this after a while). Of course, they're still pretty new but my fingers are crossed they'll stay working as I really like the look of them. :)

The bad news is that I haven't seen any more for sale anywhere since I got mine. The seller on fleabay was called 'trade-prices-direct' if you want to contact him and check if/when he'll be getting any more?

Here's another couple of pics to try and show you that they are very white in colour:

It's a cool white, but not too blue like some LED sidelights that I've seen about. I'm very pleased with them so far. Hope you manage to find some if you like them too...

I have an FR TDI on order with bi-xenons - looks like Car Mod Shop is selling some CANBUS LED bulbs which will replace the standard DRL bulbs.

They look sweet. Limited things I can do as it is a Lease Car but this mod is on my shortlist.

Is the issue sorted with the passenger side wiring and did you have to swap the spades over?

I've not had a proper chance to have a look. It hasn't happened for a while but I sometimes get the warning light on the dash that a bulb has gone even though both are working. Turning lights to off then back to auto clears the warning. Thanks for tip though, might do the trick

Chirs, Any further with more check DRL warnings? did you check the spade connectors like GainfulShrimp did ?

Thanks

Hi. They have been fine recently. It only happened when the temp dropped below 0 earlier in the year. If it doesn't come back I will leave them alone. Also with more daylight now the DRLs have been on longer with no issues.

Cool. Just replied in your other thread - ordered some now.

Was tempted with the LED sidelights too but £30 seems expensive! We'll see.

Yeah I wish I had bought cheaper sidelights as the ones I got dont fit snug in the gap and also need resistors.
