Hello, I have an 06 Fr TDI and its started having a few problems... Its an absolute nightmare to start when cold, 'I know that could be glow plugs' but once running the engine wobbles badly, sounds lumpy. I think it could be missing on one injector causing the wobbling and its really down on power. The vagcom came up with this...
4 Faults Found:

004711 - PD Unit Injector: Cylinder 3 (N242)

But I also did a Log of the injector status while driving for a while and its brought up some strange results...

14:24:22 Group 018: Piezo Unit Injector Status
999 Injector Status Cylinder 1
0.0 Injector Status Cylinder 2
999 Injector Status Cylinder 3
999 Injector Status Cylinder 4

Any ideas? Injector 2 faulty or the wiring loom? Or maybe even the ecu?

Any help would be really appreciated..?

Also I rang SEAT to find out if my car had the injector recall and all they said was there was no outstanding recall on my car...

While I was reading your first post was thinking injectors and get them looked at,also regards the recall did you ring a local stealer or seat UK?

My previous mk2 (FR 170) had them changed on the recall and the loom was also changed as they were aware of them being faulty.

Mine was a 07 plate and guessing had the same injectors and loom as yourself! with this in mind I would have assumed yours would need them doing if they haven't already been done.

Give them another ring and get it checked if that fails maybe try an independent vag specialist for a check on your current injectors and see what there thoughts/experience of similar issues are.

Sorry I couldn't be of any more help mate hopefully you can get this sorted.

Hello, thanks a lot for your reply. It was a local dealer that I rang, do you think I should try seat UK? I think I'll try and find a vag specialist and see what they say too. Its annoying because if I knew what the actual fault was I would happily repair it myself. I'm kind of leaning towards it being the loom now.

Your welcome pal definatly give seat UK a call they will be able to get the full history of the cars previous work done at a seat garage and will happily tell you regards the recall. Sure you just need to give them your reg and go from there.

the injectors and loom is a common problem hence them creating the recall. There were lots of people having to claim money back off them for work done prior to them releasing the recall as at first they were saying it's not a known issue.

Hello, I rang Seat U.K and they told me it has hadsa recall done but didn't know what had been done but he knew where it had been done, so I rang them and they told me that the injectors had been replaced on the recall in 2012 I think he said. But he didn't say the loom had been changed. So I think the next thing to do is to check the injector looms resistance in the wires then test the injectors.

Ok so if you find the injectors to be at fault is there any kind of warranty on them as they have been changed I'm assuming there is but how long I'm unsure.

Also think the loom would have been changed as it was part of the recall iirc

Good thinking I'll have to give them a call again and find out. I will be having a look at it tomorrow as I've got a day off.

P.s my mates got the 07 cbr 600. lovely bike, so much better for cornering I found. Hopefully mine just needs setting up.

Worth a try mate you never know, my way off thinking is if you bought a new car you get three years warranty and that would cover injectors so as they have been changed then I'd assume it's only fair that they should last at least three years.

Yeah love my bike had some great times on her some scary too ha ha, done a few track days and been the TT? Can't see it going on track this year spending to much money on my car and wedding lol

Yeah I'll give them a try.

Sweet, that's what I'll be doing in the summer, a few track days. I've got a turn up and ride race track close to me, so that's where I'll be hopefully, lol And in the track car!

I've had no luck so I think what I'm going to do is try a new injector loom and if that doesn't do it then I'll try injector 2. It's got to be one of them!

Right, I've change the wiring loom, but it was exactly the same. So the next job was dpf removal as that was playing up before and that made a HUGE difference to the power. But its still not 100% and its a nightmare to start when cold or when its been left for a few minutes. If you start it, turn it off then start it again it starts fine.

Could it be the fuel pump in the fuel tank? If it was that wouldn't it bring up a code for it?
