Been calling around a few local companies (Lincolnshire) for prices on tints on rear doors, rear screen and rear 1/4's, everone I have spoken with says they can't do the rear 1/4's because they are polycarb ?

Can anyone help me ?

The problem with polycarb is that the film will start to peel after a while. There are sprays that can be used instead of film, but I have no real knowledge of them.

Now that's odd - mine has tinted rear windows/rear screen and I assumed (until now) that it was a standard feature. My car was an ex-demo so I guess the dealer did it themselves.

I think it looks great, even though the front windows are different - good for keeping the kids in the back cool too.

Can you graduate the tint from the front to back? Surely this could be done if it was sprayed.

It is standard on the FR, base Essence and reference models didn't have privacy glass in the rear.

Diggler how much will it cost to have windows tinted? why not just get FR rear 1/4s from dealer and have tints done to the same degree of tint (if that makes sense?)

Good idea, I'll try and get hold of a dealer to price up, I was quoted (for tinting)£130 for the rear screen both 1/4's and rear doors, hopefully new FR' 1/4's won't cost a bomb:confused: :-o

This is my car which is work in progress.. The front windows are going to be tinted as well but not to the same extent. To do the rear 1/4's I used polycarbonate spray for remote control car bodies (Tamiya Smoke). The results from the outside look great but inside it's cloudy and makes the vision through the quarter window really bad. The tints are being done purely by me and the missus for under £20 so personally i'm quite happy with the way they look. The film on the door glass is 100% perfect except for a minimal crease on one side which is fine for now but will get redone when I get the chance. Ideally I would have the fronts done by now but money is an issue at the moment and even at less than £20 to do the fronts tints they are the least of my priorities atm :)

Good Morning i had my rear windows done to 80% and the tiny little glasses a specialist near me covered them in a black vinyl to completely tint the back of my car

The Dealer

Looks like it may be the vinyl trick on the polycar rear 1/4, then £140 for the rear and rear side windows. I phoned a few dealers and the costs are £125 each for replacement (darker) rear 1/4's !!!!!!:wtf: :-o

I just finished doing the front ones.. Went perfect but they got wound down by accident and peeled slightly at the corner.. Don't think i left it long enough before replacing them either... The rear ones i did are still going strong. If i didn't have to use the film to do the civic I would have enough film for 2 more attempts, Total cost £40, Once i get the peels sorted out (redo) it will look ace. (Looks great as it is as the corners are not noticeable when wound up.

I have the FR, rear windows are tinted as standard as is the back screen, I paid £95 today to have the 2 fronts(drivers& passengers) tinted to the same degree as the rears, looks good, and shouldn't stick out to the bill, there's only one light meter in my area iam told so hopefully i wont attract their attention although its not that dark.looks good.
