As the title says anybody tried a Mitsubishi TD05 turbo on 1.8T ? Is it laggy ? The IHI is getting expensive now and I'm looking for alternatives. The TD05 is a near bolt on I think.

The whole td05 range are good. Consider a td05 16g or a 18g. I have looked at these turbos the scooby lot seem to prefer them to the IHI units. Also consider the IHI vf22 which seems to go cheap now. On a 1.8T i would mainly look at the tdo5 16g, tdo5 18g. The 20g might be to laggy. Also consider the momentum ej5-40t. I dont hink IHI turbos are very strong. The ej5-40t is cheaper than a vf34 and is supposed to be strong, faster spooling, and it is supposed to be more powerful at the top end.

Theres some nice turbos about you just need an engine to cope with them and patience due to possible lag. Luckily my fq400 to be has a decent turbo on anyway and it will get remapped to increase spool time and bhp/torque.

I look after a fq400 brilliant to drive but it does 1000miles on a clutch £900 for the clutch alone and it isn't down to driver abuse.

LOL dont tell Gary and jools, i think the ibiza is more a vibration problem killing the maf's..............

You put off the Fq400 now then Gary?????

Yes i am. I thought they would have been a little better when it comes to day to day running, clutch every 1k thats very poor. Especially if thats for a normal driver. I dont know whats going to happen a fq400 was an idea as there now £32-33. I dont know what to do. I have had enough of the Ibiza , maybe its just the time of year putting a downer on me. I cant be arsed putting anymore money into the nearly 5 year old ibiza. As ever time will tell.

Mike was telling me that high voltage ie 240+ maf readings can kills the mafs so quick thats why he's rescaled some of them, not sure on size/rescaling of yours gary.

As for selling up,the evo is a very capable car.I've been down this road a number of times but my final decision is that the s3 will be a ongoing project, lets see what the new year will bring!
