There are definatelty 2 sensors either side of the cat on the standard car. Remove either and you'll throw a fault code and engine light (not sure what the effect on the calcs that the cpu does), there's bound to be a thread about relocation somewhere.

Pabs has a pic of the old with the sensors on it, the Miltek allows for them. I'd check that the one on e-bay does before buying:

Talk to Uncle Fester - He decatted his TDI recently. Having to have adjustments now as it is FAR too loud apparently. But I think thats to the backbox...

I always thought that a car newer than a J plate (91) HAD to have a cat - if the police found out you don't have one then you can be fined etc.
I know (now) that diesels don't have an emissions test at MOT, but they do a volume test or something...?

yes they do ,do volume tests, my vvtli celice just pasted, is unclefester on here much as im band from scc, i thought to that a decat would be very loud on a deisel

there is alot of mixed views and opions,

Might make a bit more noise, but a cats job isn't to reduce noise anyway, so i doubt it would make a huge difference at all.
Its not a legal requirement to have a cat on a diesel so it can be ditched no problem. Although I was under the impression that the cat is there on a diesel to reduce the visible smoke/soot output? If thats the case, then im not sure i'd want rid of it.
Cheers, P

Uncle Fester is on here as well mate. He has a huge thread about it - called it mufflerectomy or something lol.

Up to you at the end of the day - but removing the cat means you'll have a much more free flowing exhaust - hence more air will come out - dirtier air too - and more air = more noise IMO.

I think Fester removed his backbox as well (silly lad LOL) but he's sorting/sorted that out now.

i decatted my ibiza 110tdi. Also removed the centre silencer as well. There are no lambda sensors as standard and it past an mot no problem. It was no louder than standard and the engine definately revved better. I use the supersprint parts.

new larger downpipe, removed cat , removed centre silencer so only had the rear box as a silencer. Sounded more whooshy when on boost.Sounded more petrol like under hard acceleration. Was no louder inside car regardless of speed. Slighlty smokier but the car was remapped and the exhuast pointed straight out instead of downwards like the oe one. I used the Supersprint system but with the rear box for the 1.8t cupra ibiza. Have fitted a few milltek systems to diesels at my work and they are definately no louder. Supersprint claim about 10bhp for the ibiza with there full system. Never had mine rr'd to test.
