Any guides or advice on changing rear discs and pads on LCR

Craigus

Black LCR 225
I have changed the fronts many times, on allsorts of different cars,

But i have a problem when it comes to what to do on the rear,

I know its the same sort of idea as the front,

i.e. Removing the caliper - removing pads - removing disc - Fitting new discs and pads,

The only thing that worrys me is where the handbrake side of things come into it?

How do i sort the handbrake out and can it be done without effecting it.

Many thanks

Craig

i use grips to wind the caliper in but thats me and the cowboy way, if your a novice, i would buy a windback tool, there not that dear compared to labour and can be used again so will pay for them self, basically its same as the front apart form the piston. caliper off, carrier off, screw out of disk, nock the old disc off, clean new disc up, clean up the hub with wire brush and a dab of coppergrease, screw back in, carrer on, wind piston back with tool, pads into the carrer, dab of copper grease, caliper back on and tighten bolts, wheel on, pump pedal then work the handbrake a few times.

Just did my pads and discs all round on LCR, as far as hand brake cable i didn't touch it apart from leaving the hand brake off. Also as said wind back tool is worth its weight in gold makes the job very easy.

Handbrake off and wind away. You might need a helper to push against the piston with sommthing like a hammer handle if its being a bitch. Vag calipers can take the piss to wind back, had a few tricky ones before even on a 55plate golf and a wind back tool lol.

By the way, was you on the saxo owners club at one point and used to have an FR?

You can get a reverse wind tool from Halfreuds, i bought mine for around 20 quid. Comes with two different adapters (you only need one of them).
