Hello all,

First of all, my car is a 05 1.2

So far all I have done to it is:
fixed a little patch of rust on a wheel arch as best as I can (would post pics but I'm a new guy)
carbon wrapped centre console and interior doorhandles
got a Sendai bluetooth/usb/aux cdplayer
LED sidelights
and finally Philips Diamond Vision headlamp bulbs

Not much but I've just started. So here's my plan for after christmas where I can spend money on myself! :

All in January -
JOM coilovers
some audi alloys (did have my eye on some this week, 2003 A4 ones with 4mm tread pirelli tyres, good deal? BUT, as I have my MOT on friday I decided it'd be best not to )
FR pre facelift grille set

What do you think?

Any comments on JOM coilovers? From the reviews I've seen they seem okay

Was going to fit them myself, having not worked on a car before, what's the difficulty of this job?

Is there any other little, low budget, touches you guys can think of that I could do at the moment?

Cheers folks!

So you aren't getting the wheels because of your MOT?

If you haven't worked on a car before then i would not do them yourself. Suspension is up there with brakes in terms of safety.

Take them to a garage or ask someone who's done it before.

I've heard good things about JOM coilovers, come with 2 years warranty aswell IIRC.

I bought FK AK's which are pretty muchthe same as JOM's but dont come with 2 years warranty :(

I didn't buy them just incase I needed the funds for my mot... playing it safe and crossing my fingers.

Yea, to be honest I'd feel a lot better getting it done by someone that knows what they are doing! I'd usually just think 'ah well, learn by doing!' but I see what you are saying with the safety aspect

I like the sound of the two year warranty, think these are for me come January :)

Love you are by the way mate, looks tidy! Loving that spoiler

'03 Audi wheels will have pcd of 5x112, you want 5x100 & Tyres on Audi will be huge.

Coilovers, give it a go, you'll pay the same for fittings as you will to buy them, in my opinion I'd get some better coily's (AP's) and fit them yourself..

Lucky you came along, thanks for the heads up!
I have seen a few guys around my area with A4's and TT Comps on though  would a different year have a different hole diameter?
Probably best just keeping my eye on ebay for the right set (that'll fit!!) !

I have been looking at some guides on fitting coilovers. Just a but cautious as I've never done it before, I know a few people that know what they'd be doing so probably a good idea to get them round to give me a hand.

Cheers for the advice mate! Your car looks fantastic btw!

mods wise the most common things to get out the way are; LCR splitter, debadge rear, tint windows, h.i.d's, lower and a nice set of 17s :)

also the best "mod" you can do is give the car a full detail inside and out, get it looking like it just rolled out the factory!

when you get your coillies I'd say don't bother fitting yourself unless you have a pretty good knowledge of the suspenion setup (especially on the front ones) if you're looking for someone to fit them then look up ScottHmk4 on here, his brother is a mechanic and did a bloody good job on my old car! And also lives in Kilmarnock

As said mate don't fit the suspension yourself, you can do the rears. That's a piece of p1ss, but there's a lot more effort involved with the fronts.

Wheels, suspension, a bloody good clean and wax :)

Yea me and Scott used to work together a while back! I was asking him a few questions about the flipkey the other day. When it comes to doing the suspension I'll maybe give him a shout. I'd like to learn too, not just throw it into a garage and not know what's involved!

I like the audi alloys so I'll keep an eye out

thanks for the info guys.
