Anti Theft Aerial vs Car Wash

Ok I have now done around 4500 miles in the new Altea, time for a wash. But i could not get the car outside the house this weekend so I pop into the new car wash at Chichester’s Tesco (half price offer till Friday) on the way home back to Portsmouth.

Now I went to take off the aerial and found it was one of these anti theft ones, you loosen it off and it lays flat along the roof of the car, cool that works for me.

But guess what happen next, because the aerial is longer then the length of roof it has to lay flat on it hangs over the end of the roof.

So the sensor that works on the washing brush that runs down the back of the car keeps the brush clear of the car and I still have dirty rear end.

It must be me.

If you put your hand on the base and pull on the aerial HARD it will pop out - you can then either cut off the anti-theft tabs or fit a non anti-theft one

Are you sure, sounds hazardous. I will have to get the wife to do it.

Beware - there are two aerial types. One has a longer thread than the other.
But.....they only cost just over £3 inc VAT! from the dealer.
