ANOTHER Cupra for me lol!

Just picked up my Cupra (my 2nd!) today and when you start it from cold the overheating light comes on and it beeps but once the car has been running for about a minute it goes off and it doesnt do it again.

Now the heater/AC all works ok so does the temperature gauge and the fan, so just wondering if maybe its the sensor which has gone??

Has anyone else had this problem?

Check the coolant level and maybe try toppin it up above max mark, then turn ignition on again and see if it still does it.
I have to run mine above max mark (to the water drops printed on header tank) as my level sensor is buggered in coolant header tank, if I don't then everytime I start it the red light comes on and it beeps at me.

The red light that comes on is the one which is like the yellow petrol reserve light that comes on when fuel is low.

have you got a warranty with the car ?

if so i would take it back.

Yeah as above, id check coolant level. or it may be a faulty sensor. There is one in or next to the coolant. Cant remember where...

If you get a chance, run vagcom and see if it brings up a fault.

Na Alex this one is silver im afraid! But it was a bargain! The water level was fine but the oil was REALLY low as in off the dip stick! So ive topped it up and it seems ok!

Well it had to be done considering what else was available for the price, now just gota sell the old one! lol

mine did this for a few weeks even though the water was just under max... Ended up putting even more water in there in the end.. Has been fine for a good 5 months now..

Sounds a bit suspect to me lad...I smell trouble so perhaps taking it back may be a good move...how much did you pay for it...

Na its not written off but it had superficial but expensive damage! Bits for a Cupra arent cheap lol! I spent £1000 on it then 7 days later it got crashed into, when its all tip top again I will be putting it up for sale,hopefully within the month. Will have had a full respray to!lol

Car is fine now, not had the light on, may of been bcoz the oil was pretty low and ive topped the water right up to.
