And i thought fitting tyres was a routine job.

I had some tyres fitted yesterday. Toyo T1-S's

Two on the front, one on the rear. I already had a fairly new one on the rear so only replaced one.

Anyway pulled out of the garage after having them fitted, drove down the road and as soon as i put my foot down the car pulled quite violently to the left :(

So i span around and went straight back, they checked the tracking and it was out so i had them put it right.

Drove off, and exactly the same problem.

I've checked tyre pressures among other things and every seems to be fine.

I've booked the car in to be looked at on Monday so hopefully i'll know whats wrong then :(

What a pain in the arse, if i didn't have bad luck i'd have no luck at all!

You have an odd tyre on the rear.

I would say thats the likely cause mate.

You are always meant to change tyres in pairs because it can significantly affect the handling characteristics of the car

The tyres are the same..

One has slightly less tread i doubt VERY much this is the cause of my problem!

They are directional tyres, make sure they are pointing the right way (ie the point of the V is facing forwards). Sounds obvious but they might've made a mistake.

Had the tracking checked again by a different place. Apparently it was still out so they adjusted it again.

Still being pulled to the left hand side of the road. Had it looked at today and i was told the drop link bushes had gone.

Any ideas if this would affect it!

Exact same thing happened to me when i had new tyres fitted.

Now the tyres have wore down, the car drives straight again.

New tyres need wearing in for around a week or so, or they wont grip at their optimum until then. My mate had new rears on his clio and spun on a roundabout going 20MPH. Just take it easy for the first few days and it should be fine!

Yip, happened to me at 30.....ended up in a field..

Straight line, wheels locked with new tyres, heading for a embankment, decided to steer through the gate instead :D

No damage apart from my pants and a dirty car

This is not caused by new tyres 'greasyness'. That only last a few hundred miles.

As even a few K after getting them, the car still pulled to the left. Only now that ive done a few more K they are normal.

I wonder if there is something wrong with the tyres?

What tyres did you have fitted Simon?

Telford ay it...
You need to drive my mk2, steering wheel is always pointed right unless im ont he other side of the road, then its left

Try driving in the middle of the road, then on the right side (obviously on an empty street). Probably just torque steer and your new tires have exagerated (sp) it.

You Guys need to convert to Yokohama, they stick the best out of most brands. Try Yokohama Parada....... you'll never go back to another tyre again, ive convinced all my boys to follow the fashion. And with the big torque ibiza's make its necesary.

Yokohama A539's are awful in the wet. I'd rather not drive, than use them. Not tried the parada's though.

You need to try Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's, then you can also drive in the wet! :)
