Ambient Temprature Sensor

Does anyone find the ambient or outside temp display on their Ibiza reads about 3 degrees lower than actual temprature (have noticed the difference when listerning to the weather report on the radio).

Was thinking of fitting a new sensor (the one by the front fog light) but if you guys have noticed the same I'll save my money and not bother with it.

Thanks!

The radio prob isn't the best thing to work from mate!!! Bloody lucky at the moment if they can predict what day of the week it is! I suppose the best way to check it would be to use a thermometre, if you can be that bothered!lol

Mine seems quite accurate, in that when it's freezing outside it says so on the dash!lol

ummmmmm,

because the weather report is a general area and not the exact location your car is in.

they are quite accurate, check next to a sign that shows temperature, either a garage or tyre place usually,

Yes I agree about the location being different temperature, but I would not necessarily trust the garage or tyre place readings as they tend to be mounted quite a bit higher up so tend to give a cold reasding error of +2C - in Summer this can be even higher as they tend to pick up direct sun light. I'd just accept that the temperature sensor is near enough - a duff one will tend to read about 20C away from where it should be reading - and you would notice that!

Yeah I hear what you're saying! I live in London and I listern to London radio stations but who knows??

Not a major issue I know but something that has been bugging me! On reflection might check it agaisnt our Mini Cooper when the two cars are parked next to one another. For those who are interested...will let you know! LOL

If you do this make sure both cars have cold engines as the heat from a hot engine can effect the sensor when the car is parked.
