Alternative methods of fitting the arm rest?

Hi all,

I am thinking of purchasing the optional arm rest for when my new leon FR arrives but have a slight issue with the fitting.

My car will be a lease car and will have to hand it back in 3 years so cannot really screw down the armrest as this will leave screw holes when removed.

I am sure I remember reading on this forum that someone fixed theirs with double sided tape??, for those of you that have the armrest I would be grateful on your thoughts as to whether this will work or am open to other solutionts that will not damage the car. I have seen 'no nails' type sticky fixings.

Does anyone think this will work or must it be screwed down.

Thanks for any help / advice you can offer

Thanks for your reply, I'm not at all worried about trying to sell the armrest afterwards just if the lease company moan about me adding it to the car as they may know it's not a factory option and that I would have fitted it personally, sometimes they can be a pain.

Maybe I'll screw it down and just say it was there when I got the car delivered.

i did read on this forum that someone used a fine black marker to cover each and every red dot to good effect, not sure I would want to spend £100 to then colour it in with a pen though!

 It all sounds a bit "bodge it and scarper"

Why not talk to the lease company about having it fitted by SEAT prior to you getting it?

I see no point in making a mess of the inside of your car with, double sided sticky tape and black marker pens to have an armrest you cant use as it may fall off/give you a black elbow.

It will just ruin the new car experiance in my opinion.

Good luck with the new car.

You can get an 'Italian Leather' arm rest from Spanish web site and someone on here covered theirs in carbon fibre type leather which looked stunning (if costly) and they were an ex upholsterer which made a BIG difference!

Im toying with the idea of getting my interior completely done out with leather so i would maybe get the arm rest in advance and get that done as part of the deal....

Thanks leon 263 and penfold uk that is great to hear, can you just buy these from halfords?, do you think you could remove the stickies from the plastic as well without any damage.

Thanks a lot for your replies, really helpful!

Nope i havent Dan, would like one, but not with red dots that dont match anything else....

Lol - You get used to the dots, in fact I'm sure mine have 'faded'. They used to stand out like a sore thumb and I noticed them whenever I got in the car - don't notice them at all now.

Know what you mean about them not matching anything - I can rememember saying to the salesman when I picked the car up 'Mmmm not sure about the armrest, what's with the red dot thing?'

Couldn't moan too much though as it was one of my freebies:)

Just screw it down and say nowt, they aren't going to notice it.

In fact when the car goes back swap the 18's for steelies and swap the bumpers with someone on here for their standard ones :)
