Just wondered if anyone has any experience of either going from 17" OE alloys with 45 profile tyres to the optional Andromeda 18" alloys with 40 profile tyres or vice versa?
I've got the latter on our Altea FR TDi and although they look the part, filling the cavernous arches handsomely, I'm thinking my wife and my newborn son(!) will ride in a 'little' more comfort if I swop them for the OE alloys with the slightly higher profile tyres. Granted, it's never going to ride like a Maybach (and neither would I want it to) but it stands to reason that if there's thicker rubber connected to the road then the ride should be more comfortable...of course if the council did their job and maintained the roads then I wouldn't be posting this thread...but dont get me started on that one...!!??!
All feedback would be greatly appreciated as I'm trying to weigh up the options.
Cheers .Andy
P.s If I do go down this route then there'll be a set of spangly recently aligned & balanced Andromeda alloys with Hankook tyres up for grabs...watch this space!
