Ok Just added an Ipod connection to my Factory Fit 2005 Altea Stereo.
The box has been fitted and the Ipod Fuctionality works. However I spoent 2 Hours trying to route the cable through the push out hole in the Glove box and into the DASH HU cavity. I could not find a way of getting the cable to go where ,I want it to. After 2 Hours and many muttinging of Golly gosh. I have routed the cable underneath the Steering wheel so the ipod sits on the coin tray. Now this is not where I want it permanently. Has anyone got any tips on how to route the cable via the Glovebox.

thanks.

I'm having the exact same issue 3 years on. Has anyone got any tips on installing an ipod into the glove box or alternatively into the box behind the handbrake. I have a 2006 Altea and there are no USB or Aux-in ports.

you need something like dmc 20188 - this is so-called cdchanger emulator. It is connected to the standard CDchanger port on the radiouint back panel and emulates cd changer. It allows to use SD cards or IPod as source for mp3 files.

i can't post link to the manufacturer site but you can find it with google.

I've owned such device for one year and after that period it has stopped to play music from my IPod. May be because I've attached IPod to the working emulator, i don't know.

This device can handle six folders (one root) with 99 tracks in the each folder. This limitation is from VAG cd changer afaik
Actually you can put much more files but you can get tracks with number 100 and more only when cd unit has played 99th track and goes to the next

Buttons on steering wheel are working, but with some limitations:
next|prev track works
mute will turn volume off but playing is performed when mute on cd disk pause music playing (i don't know how actually standard cd changer mutes)
folder up|down works
Random mode doesn't work at all and causes this device to hang up
Playing mp3 from SD card is not very good - the most ugly thing is that this device can't continue to play from the position where stopped for long tracks (audio books or long composition). For long composition it is not possible to forward wind / rewind too. Also it is annoying that you can't see track title (nor from mp3 tags nor from file name)

Playing music from ipod has some bugs too. In my case sometimes ipod was not set to pause that causes ipod battery to be depleted - when engine starts ipod need some time to charge before can start to play. This happens if i taking key off of the engine start keyhole and radio is playing some composition from ipod
The other bug is that for some reason ipod failes to start playing when engine starts - and the only one way to fix it was ipod reboot.

Now i have ipod connected to the aux in port. this is not so good as i would like to have, but pay one hundred dollars again is too much.
